JOURNEY IN SRMS IBS To realize your dreams for building a career you have to embark on a journey, which starts with a sense of unknown to befall on you. The hallowed portal of a college gets you on this journey. I still remember the date 19th June, 2014, when I parted from my family to start a new journey altogether. Mixed emotions of nervousness and excitement invariably overcame my thought process. I was curious to be with people I never knew and mutual expectations sought from each other. I do vividly recall my first day in college. The college SRMS-IBS felt like liberation for me since I had an opportunity to prove myself on my own. College is a dry run for the rest of our lives. It’s a training ground on how to be successful in personal and professional life. I experienced working under pressure with a workload which was intense than I had thought of. The major challenges were the large volume of reading, the imminent deadlines, and the incisive assignments. A consequential effect was doubt, frustration, and possibly loneliness. This made me recognize the demands expected from a professional. Frequent interactions with the institute’s Director and faculty members who were highly experienced intellectuals opened up new dimensions of thinking and learning. Gradually I started enjoying strenuous classroom hours, as I developed zeal to explore and learn. I was thrilled with the perceptible positive changes noticed in me with the personality grooming sessions by the institute. I was my own boss ten hours a day. There were rules to be followed which eventually turned fruitful as discipline and punctuality was inculcated within me. I could not forget my ultimate motive behind joining the college which says, “Don’t go flying off the end of the pier”. The presentations, club activities, sports activities all taught lessons that mere book reading would never do. Time had finally arrived to explore ourselves. It’s always exciting to discover how wonderfully diverse college relationships can be. The amazing interactions with seasoned executives of the corporate world regularly gave us a pragmatic outlook. The campus, faculties, staff, my seniors and class mates, the college activities have dfinitely brought a change in my personality which I could have never dreamt of. I made lot of new friends but continued to be myself. The learning journey has been with lot of life time experiences, memories to cherish throughout our lives. The bond with faculties and other people I met is just laudable. Now, when I look myself in the mirror IFind myself a completely new person as I have turned into a new leaf. In my opinion, experiencing the college life should be treasured for rest of our lives. Moreover, it is becoming familiar, with your strengths, than about getting a degree. It is all about being involved, exploring passions and doing things realistically. Certainly, positive things have fallen in place for me, facilitated by the amazing learning environment of my college. They provided me the opportunities, to make me realize and believe in myself. Now with SRMS-IBS I can appreciate that to be successful one must have an appropriate learning environment to excel.

BOTTLING OF HAPPINESS It was a great experience to gain the knowledge about the back end processes preformed for bottling the Coca-Cola, before you get the chance to ‘Open Happiness!!’ Batches 2014-16 and 2015-17 of SRMS IBS, had an interesting trip to the Brindavan Bottlers Pvt. Ltd. which is a bottling franchise partner of Coca-Cola in India. With current production of about 20000 bottles per day, the plant is engaged in bottling various products in the product line of coca-Cola viz. Sprite, Maza, ThumsUp, Minute Made Fruit Drinks and has very recently commenced with the upcoming variant of coke known as Coke Zero. It was very informative for the students to observe the sequencing and scheduling of processes in a fully automated bottling facility, right from ‘Treatment of Water’ to final ‘Packaging of Fizz’ bottles.

AN INSIGHTFUL PIECE FROM SIDDIQ AAZAM, HEAD PLACEMENTS OF THE B-SCHOOL THAT NEVER SLEEPS SRMS IBS has helped shape some extraordinary people, and they’re not even close to being done. What SRMS IBS means by stunning Placement record? If the placement record of a management institute is a marker of its stature then SRMS International Business School, Lucknow towers over its contemporaries. A SRMS Manager never goes anywhere without one stranger calling out at them. From climbing the stairs of the Bank of Mellon NY Corporate building ’to IT hubs of Bangalore and Hyderabad, SRMS-ians are always running into fellow SRMS-ians, everywhere, and all around the globe. Why? Within a short span of time the B School has produced graduates that have been lapped up by the big names in the industry and are now located in various parts of the globe. Mr. Siddiq Aazam, Head Placements, SRMS Lucknow has been with the institute since its inception and we sat over a coffee conversation with him. We asked him a simple question- “what makes students from the institute appealing prospects to the corporate companies?” He cherry picked few points to answer it with enthusiasm. WE KEEP ROI FOR THE STUDENT IN MIND EVER SINCE S/HE STEPS IN THE B-SCHOOL SRMS International Business School’s sterling track record includes 100% placements every year. Mr. Azam highlights some of the other remarkable stats of the placement record as he says, “While the average salary package for students is around Rs. 4.2 lakhs per annum, the highest package is in the range of Rs. 7 lakhs. That’s excellent return on investment even if you consider the average package, because that’s our course fee. It means students can recover their fees within a year of working in the corporate world.” WE HAVE THE NETWORK But it’s not just about the monetary gains as the institute and its placement cell in particular works tirelessly to offer students job profiles and opportunities based on their interests. According to Mr. Azam, “Some of the major recruiters at the institute include JK Tyres, Berger Paints, Asian Paints, Pepsi, Marico, Bank of Mellon New York and IndusInd Bank. There are at least 35 new recruiters that come to the campus every year. We can proudly say that we are able to meet with the aspirations of our students.” OUR ALUMNI DO THEIR JOB, EXTRAORDINARILY WELL Another important and interesting aspect of the placement process at SRMS IBS is the fact that 90% of recruiters come back to hire students. It shows that institute alum in these companies perform as expected. Speaking of this endorsement of the institute by recruiters Mr. Azam says, “That makes us proud because we work hard to make students fit for the corporate world. They study an industry oriented curriculum while they are also empowered with different life skills that are crucial for successful corporate life.” WE RESPECT TRADITION AND WE DON’T FORGET INNOVATION “Throughout the course we facilitate industry interactions for students through different platforms like guest lectures, industrial visits, management development programs, seminars and conferences. Not only do they understand how the industry functions but many of the recruiters already know what our students are capable of,” he ends revealing the secrets to the successful placement record of the B School.

THERE IS NO DULL DAY AT SRMS IBS, EVER. HOW AND WHY? When SRMS IBS claims it is extremely student centric, the school means every bit of it. “Marco Mania, Ad Fest, Stock Market Mania are just some of the host of activities that we have for students at SRMS IBS. What makes them unique is the fact that they by students and for students, completely,” says Prof. Ashish Kumar, who has his expertise in Retail Management, Service Marketing and Brand Management. Here the faculty member with a decade long experience in industry and academia talks about activities that create well rounded individuals at SRMS IBS. MANAGEMENT RELATED ACTIVITIES ARE BASICALLY- SIMULATORS The B School has several clubs and a plethora of activities focused on different streams of management. Marco Mania is the marketing club activity where the students prepare business models, present it to the incubation cell, try to get their approval and raise funds. The advertising club activity, Ad Fest requires students to prepare ads that are on par with National standards. Whether it’s Finance Club’s Dravya or Fundwiser, students come up with mutual funds. In Stock Market Mania, they trade in stocks and explain their rationale behind the decisions, each activity promotes out of the box thinking. So, how are these Finance, HR Club, Operations Committee, etc. activities helping students? “These outbound activities not only help students with bonding but build leadership qualities in them as well. They learn to work in teams and handle stressful situations,” explains Prof. Kumar. STUDENTS DON’T LIVE THEIR LIVES IN THE SIDELINES AT SRMS IBS, EVEN FOR A MINUTE Prof. Kumar believes that the institute understands the importance of physical fitness and how it can affect the overall performance of management professionals. “That’s why we have our sports club Proton, which promotes different activities. SRMS IBS T20 cricket tournament, basketball tournament, volleyball tournament, table tennis championship and Ironman are some of the hugely popular activities with our students,” he says with a smile. SOCIAL IS SPECIAL AT SRMS IBS According to Prof. Kumar it’s important for future managers to be socially aware too. That’s why the institute has a volunteer club that encourages activities related to the social upliftment of the various classes that need attention. But the concept of social today cannot be complete without focus on the ever growing social media. “The social media club helps students apply management concepts on different platforms. They can tackle their social reach, negative feedback, etc. coming through social channels and turn things around for themselves and their brands,” he adds. Prof. Kumar believes that overall these different club activities allow students to apply management concepts into real world scenarios and be groomed for the challenges in their professional lives. As the saying goes, “there is no dull day at SRMS IBS, ever”.
