Indian Institute of Management, Rohtak organised its sixth convocation ceremony on March 18, 2017 for its Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGPM) batch of 2017. As many as 156 students graduated from the PGPM 2017 batch. Onno RÃ¼hl, General Manager, Aga Khan Agency for Habitat, Chairman of the Society was the chief guest. Dr. Dheeraj Sharma, Director, IIM Rohtak along with Mr. Ravi Kant, Chairman of the Board of Governors were also present on the occasion.
Onno RÃ¼hl shared the significance of taking the right decisions by the graduating students of IIM Rohtak as he said, “Your decisions will impact people’s lives. Your decisions will help shape the future – your own future, your team’s future, your country’s future, and the world’s future.” Mr. Onno RÃ¼hl is the Former World Bank country Director for India. Recalling his days at the World Bank, RÃ¼hl said that during the 23 years he spent with World Bank, he witnessed the growth of various countries – Eastern Europe caught up to the European Union, Africa progressed from being called the ‘hopeless continent’ to becoming one of the hottest emerging markets. He also highlighted that poverty rates have noticeably gone down across the globe. “In my last assignment, I saw India become the fastest growing economy in the world,” added Mr. RÃ¼hl.
The Chief Guest for the occasion also congratulated the graduating students and presented gold medals to two students. Shubham Aggarwal was presented with a scholastic achievement award, and Rahul Varshney received the all-round performance award.
Congratulating the graduating batch, Dr. Dheeraj Sharma highlighted the contribution IIM Rohtak is making in the field of education and said, “IIM Rohtak has a strategic location in the National Capital Region that can enable it to be at the centre of the world with the right efforts which commensurate with India’s global aspirations. More specifically, IIM Rohtak is now positioning itself to be number one management institution in North India and among the top five management institutions in India at large.”
The Director also appreciated the encouraging placement trends of IIM Rohtak over the years. “IIM Rohtak’s final placements for the graduating batch of 2017 saw an increase in the average CTC by 10%, according to the interim report published by the institute. The highest CTC offered was Rs. 25.9 LPA. 25 students were offered PPO/PPIs based on their performance in their summer internship. Of them, 20 students accepted the offers in companies such as Idea Cellular, Dabur, ICICI, etc.,” he said. Talking about the credibility of the placement report, Dr. Dheeraj added, “Our placement report is transparent and is audited by an independent agency, as per the Indian Placement Reporting Standards.”
IIM Rohtak has also been recognised by the Government authorities and Mr. Ravi Kant also talked about the same at the convocation ceremony. “The Institute has been selected by the Ministry of HRD and the Ministry of Science and Technology as a technical business incubator,” he confirmed.
