What is Part-time MBA
Part Time MBA is primarily meant for working professionals who want to earn a management degree without taking a break from work. Not every MBA aspirant find it convenient to opt for full-time program owing to professional responsibilities. The classes of Part Time MBA are held in the evening hours or during a weekend. Some weekend programs are residential, which gives the students a chance to experience full-time program by staying on the campus, interact and network with batch mates and faculty members and participate in non- academic activities. The schedule and mode of delivery of the Part Time MBA vary from institute to institute. The curriculum and pedagogy are similar to that of the full time Executive MBA programs. The selection takes place on the basis of entrance test followed by Writing Ability Test (WAT) or Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI).
Eligibility of Part-time MBA
- Candidates should have minimum 3 to 5 years work experience
- Graduate in any discipline from a recognised institute or university preferably with 50% aggregate marks or equivalent CGPA
- Some institutes have age limit for applicants where they state that candidates should not be less than 27 years old or not more than 50 years of age
Best suited for
Part Time MBA programs are best suited for the mid-level working executives or professionals who want to pursue management education without taking a break from their career. Since Part Time MBA programs do not offer placement, it is best suited for those professionals who plan a career growth in their own organizations and do not plan to change job sector or domain or company. This program is also suitable for entrepreneurs, for whom it would be otherwise difficult to take the break for one or two years. Top B-schools like IIMs, FMS, University of Delhi, IIFT etc. offer Part-Time MBA programs.
