The XAT 2018 Application Process has started from August 16, 2017. In an official notification released on August 14, 2017, XLRI Jamshedpur has announced the important dates of Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT). According to the notification, XAT 2018 will be conducted in computer based mode on January 7, 2018. Until last year, XAT used to be held in paper-pencil mode. Aspirants will be allowed to fill the application form of XAT 2018 till November 30, 2017, without any late fees. The second phase of the XAT application process, i.e. with late fees, is yet to be announced. Check the details of XAT 2018 official notification below.

XAT aspirants need to register for the exam before they begin filling the XAT application form. Once the candidates have generated their XAT ID, they will be able to proceed to the XAT 2018 application process.
Candidates, after filling all the details in the XAT application form, will need to remit an application fee before submitting the test form.
The application fee of XAT 2018 can be paid in any of the two modes – Online and Offline. If paying online, they may use payment options including Debit Card/Credit Card/Net Banking, while Demand Draft/IDBI Bank Challan payment options can be utilised if paying offline.

Last year, the XAT application fee was Rs. 1600 which has increased by Rs. 50 this year.
Before proceeding towards XAT registration, applicants must check and ensure that they fulfil the eligibility criteria of XAT as stated by XLRI Jamshedpur. According to the criteria, candidates must be graduates in any discipline from a recognised University or Institute. Final year Bachelor's Degree students are also eligible to apply for XAT provided they complete their degree by June 10, 2018. NRI and foreign national candidates belonging to countries outside India, except Dubai and Nepal, have to take GMAT in order to apply for XLRI programmes.
The Xavier Aptitude Test will be administered online and not in offline mode, as it used to be until last year. The online XAT 2018 is scheduled to be held on January 7 and will be conducted in as many as 47 cities across India and two cities overseas, Dubai and Kathmandu.
Candidates appearing in XAT 2018 will have to answer questions from two papers. Paper 1, which will have objective type questions from Decision Making, Verbal and Logical Ability, and Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation, will also have negative marking while Paper 2 which shall have questions of both objective and descriptive nature will cover General Knowledge and Essay Writing sections. The second paper will not be subject to any negative marking in case of wrong attempts. However, it should be noted that test takers are allowed to skip a maximum of 12 questions, beyond which they have to incur negative marking of 0.05 marks.
