Over 15 per cent XAT 2014 applicants skip Jan 5 exam
XLRI admission Chairperson Prof Vishwa Ballabh told Careers360 that more than 15 per cent of the 89,000 XAT applicants did not appear for the exam held on Sunday, January 5. “We recorded around 15-16 percent absentees at most of the centres during the XAT exam held on Sunday,” said Prof. Vishwa Ballabh, Admission Chairperson of XLRI Jamshedpur, the institute which conducts XAT.

The drop in number of CAT and XAT and other MBA entrance exam takers may further add to the woes of B-schools who are already facing shortage of candidates.
While CAT 2013 registration witnessed a significant dip this year, XAT 2014 registration number also declined with about 3000 less candidates registering for the prestigious MBA entrance exam for XLRI and many other top B-Schools in India. XAT registration had declined despite a 10-day extension in the XAT 2014 registration window. According to XAT officials, the total number of applicants stood around 89,400 as compared to 92,000 MBA aspirants who had registered for XAT (Xavier Aptitude Test) last year.

Earlier, the dip in CAT 2013 registration had indicated to an expected slowdown in MBA admission this year. After CAT 2013 registration number dipped to 1.94 lakh as compared to last year’s number of 2.14 lakh, the number of test takers has further fallen with only 1.74 lakh candidates appearing for the test.
XAT 2014 scores will be the basis for shortlisting candidates for admissions to XLRI and 116 other B-Schools which have agreed to accept the same as first stage of their admission process. XAT result will be announced by 31 January after which second stage of selection process which will include GD and PI will begin at different B-schools. Besides XLRI Jamshedpur, many other top B-schools including XIMB, XISS Ranchi, XIME Bengaluru, LIBA Chennai, SPJIMR Mumbai, MICA, IMT, We School- Mumbai, TAPMI Manipal, VIT Business School accept XAT score to shortlist candidates for their admission process.

I have 93% in 10th , 93% in state board; 55%in graduation(math). What percrntile in cat or xat will ensure me a good college ?
It depends, for IIMS you have to score minimum 99 percentile. It is the basic eligibility criteria for iims also they will see your previous marks and then only you are eligible for the further process.
If you want b school than you have to score above 80 or 85 percentile to get admissions in good and reputated institution .
Many college also go for group discussion to eliminate students.

what if i attempt only verbal ,lr and decision-making sections leaving quants in XAT.will be able to score 80 percentile.if yes ,please let me let me know the number of questions i should attempt in these sections.
Hello there. Hope you are doing good. I would like to tell you that if you are targetting top colleges accepting XAT score. Then, it is mandatory to clear sectional cutoffs. You need to score well in each section. Moreover, considering past year XAT scores, you should score approximately 26-27.5 score in order to fetch 80-85 percentile in XAT. You can attempt the questions based on accuracy accordingly.
