NMAT which has been acquired by GMAC and rebranded now as NMAT by GMAC has recorded a 15 per cent jump in unique registration this year, GMAC officials said. A total of 54,010 test takers have registered for NMAT by GMAC 2016 being held this year for admissions to management programmes in academic year 2016-18. Last year, the total number of unique registrations was 46,950.

NMAT by GMAC 2016 registrations closed on October 5 and the late registration window continued till October 19, 2015. The registration began on July 2. GMAC acquired ownership of the exam from NMIMS University in March 2015 and rebranded it as NMAT by GMAC.

More than 54,010 unique test takers registered for the NMAT by GMAC exam this year, surpassing last year’s registration of 46,950 — also marking an all-time high since its inception more than two decades ago, Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC) officials said.

After acquiring NMAT, GMAC also developed prep material for the test and secured partnerships with more B-schools in India. GMAC has also offered an enhanced set of payment options (including net banking) compared to previous years, thereby making it easier and more convenient for test takers to pay for the exam.

Speaking on the record registrations, Ashok Sarathy, Vice President, Product Management, GMAC, said, “We are pleased with the rise in number of test registrants for NMAT by GMAC exam this year. This is extremely encouraging and testifies that our efforts of making the test more student-friendly have been well received.”

After NMAT was acquired by GMAC, its scores are now accepted by a group of management institutions. NMIMS University and 15 additional institutions located in India now accept the NMAT by GMAC exam score. The NMAT by GMAC score accepting institutions include Alliance University, Bangalore; Ansal University, Delhi NCR; ICFAI University, Hyderabad and other locations; Mody University, Rajasthan; BML Munjal University Delhi; Amity University, Delhi NCR; Shoolini University, Chandigarh; SRM University, Chennai; Thapar University, Chandigarh; VIT University, Vellore, Chennai; Woxsen School of Business, Hyderabad; Chitkara University, Punjab; University of Petroleum & Energy Studies (UPES), Dehradun;  GITAM University, Hyderabad; and JK Lakshmipat University, Jaipur.

Dr. Rajan Saxena, Vice Chancellor, NMIMS University, said that GMAC has made NMAT more students friendly now. He credited initiatives taken by GAMC for increase in registrations. “Innovations such as the Official Test  Prep Guide, Online Sample Tests, and addressing new candidate segments, particularly women, besides unique features such as a long testing window and option to re-test make NMAT by GMAC has made it the most candidate friendly Admission Test.”

The NMAT by GMAC exam is computer-delivered and gives each candidate a randomly generated test from a pool of questions, provided one-at-a-time. The exam has three sections — Language Skills, Quantitative Skills and Logical Reasoning. All three sections of the NMAT by GMAC exam are individually timed and test takers must answer questions and review answers to each section within the allotted time of 120 minutes.

The NMAT by GMAC exam is currently being accepted by 16 colleges in India for their graduate management programs. The exam is being conducted in an approx. 2.5 months long window from October 6- December 19, 2015.

My NMAT score is 171, CAT petcentile is 56. I am trying to go for IBS, Hyderabad or Mumbai. What chance do I stand to get the admission?

Harshita Sharan Srivastava Student Expert 25th Feb, 2020
Hello aspirant,

You have a decent score to get into IBS Hyderabad or Mumbai. However chances of getting into Hyderabad campus is higher.
As per the past records a nmat score of 150+ and cat percentile of 60 is enough to get shortlisted. Further, Students who will be shortlisted will have to appear for the GDPI rounds.

Hi,

There are many colleges that will accept this score but it depends on what kind od college you want to take or in which city. Also it depends upon the amount you are willing to invest and the return the college gives. Some institutions you might get a call from are Doon business school, VIT, Athena school of business, IES management college, etc.
