The All India Management Association (AIMA) conducted its February session MAT 2016 on Sunday, February 7, 2016 in paper-pencil based mode. The exam was conducted from 10 in the morning to 12:30 afternoon, in which around 20,000 candidates appeared. The MAT December 2016 computer based test will be conducted on February13, 2016.

Candidates from Chennai who had applied for MAT December 2015 but could not appear due to cancellation of the test in Chennai center were automatically eligible to appear for the MAT February 2016 as per the erstwhile schedule. As per the difficulty level, the test was of moderate to easy level and was conducted without any glitch across centers.

MAT is conducted four times a year in the months of February, May, September and December. As per the exam pattern of MAT February 2016, the test had 200 multiple choice objective type questions to be completed within the duration of 2 hours 30 minutes. The test was divided into 5 sections namely, Language Comprehension, Data Analysis and Sufficiency, Mathematical Skills, Intelligence and Critical Reasoning and Indian and Global Environment.  Based on student’s inputs, the test was of easy to moderate level.

As per the marking scheme of the test, each correct answer will bear 1 mark and for each wrong answer, there will be a negative marking of 1/4. It is likely that the MAT December computer based test will be on similar lines.

The Result of MAT 2016 for February will declare the shortlisted candidates’ names most likely in the last week of February 2016. The candidates will be shortlisted by the MAT 2016 participating B-Schools on the basis of their scores depending upon the cutoff. The candidates will have to appear for the Group Discussion, Personal Interview and or Written Ability Test (WAT) rounds.

if I attempt for both pbt and cbt mat exam! which score will they take for counselling? will they take the highest one or they find average of both? and which mode is best ?

Kanupriya Gupta 5th Dec, 2019

Dear Aspirant,

MAT is conducted four times in a year for the management courses MBA and PGDMA by All India Management Association. PBT is paper-based MAT test and CBT is computer based MAT test.

Let's see the differences and possibilities in both these tests.

1. The tentative dates of PBT are as follows:-

Starting of Registration will take place in the second week of December 2019 and will end in the first week of February 2020. The admit card will be made available in the 2nd week of February 2020 and the exam will tentatively happen in the third week of February 2020. The results will be announced in the last week of February 2020.

The only difference in these dates will occur for CBT will be that the availability of the admit card and the exam will be delayed by a week than PBT. So, CBT admit card will come out in the 3rd week of February and 4th week of February is when the exam will happen.

Counselling for both will begin in March.

2. The time for PBT will be pre-scheduled and fixed and the CBT exam will take place in slots.

3. The major difference between both is that of offline and online and that can create all the difference. Technical glitches can take place in CBT but not in PBT.

4. Answer correction in PBT is done by erasing and marking a new one and in CBT, by using the navigation tool.

5. Other than all these, the pattern of the question paper, marking, duration of the test and even the level of difficulty is the same.

You can review these points and choose according to your comfort. If you plan on giving both, which a fabulous option given by AIMA, you can choose the score you want to go ahead with. It would be your call.

The fees for both the tests is also the same but if you give it combines, you will have to pay a little less than the double of the price.

If you are better at handling computers and using navigation tools, scrolling, you can go for CBT. If you get confused with the same, you can choose to give PBT. Giving both is always a win-win, because you get the opportunity to avail your score!

Also assess your reading skills. Are you better at reading on screen or paper? This includes both your speed and accuracy.

Hope this helps. All the best!

how can I get a mba scholarships based on xat and mat entrance exams

Pranav Mishra 3rd Dec, 2019

Hello Aspirant,

You can easily get a scholarship if you get good marks in XAT and MAT exams from different colleges, As they offer scholarship in the form of fees reduction to those students who have got a good marks in different management entrance exam for example college like BIMTECH GREATER NOIDA offers scholarship to students who got more than 85 percentile in CAT, So you start finding those colleges who provides this scholarship than apply to that college and than should ask for the scholarship according to your marks or percentile.

I hope the above information is beneficial for you.

Im having the problem of downloading admit card for mat. It is showing invalid credentials

Shivam bhardwaj Student Expert 2nd Dec, 2019

Hello Sushma,

Hope you are doing well.

Since the exam is scheduled in a week a lot of  candidates would be trying to download the admit card at the same time, and so the interface might be facing some technical issues. Many candidates are facing the same problem. I would suggest you to wait until the end of the day and try downloading your admit card again.
Even If issues still persist, please reach out to them and mail them your issue at mat@aima.in or call them at 011-47673000.

Good luck
