SDA Bocconi Asia Center, Mumbai has released the selection process for its IMB programme. International Masters in Business is a 2 year full time programme that is equivalent to post graduate programme under the affiliation of SDA Bocconi School of Management, Italy. Under this IMB programme candidates will go through various international experience and will be provided various certification and corporate exposures through live projects and internships. The programme extends over two 11-months modules in which candidates will have to go through 4-month specializations semester spent at SDA Bocconi main campus, Italy where they have to choose specialization from 70 subjects.

Academic Qualification required from the candidates

Candidates in order to be eligible for SDA Bocconi IMB programme must have a graduate degree in any discipline or should be in a final year of graduation. The minimum marks to be obtained in his academic must be 50% in 10th, 12th and graduation. The minimum aggregate of the candidate should be of 65% combining all 10th, 12th and graduation scores.

Entrance Tests for admission

Candidate can apply for SDA Bocconi IMB programme through the following national level management entrance examinations. As mentioned by the institute, candidate should have a minimum score often called a safe score by the institute. The safe score as listed by the institute in various examinations are listed below:

  • CAT - a score of 90 percentile

  • GMAT- a score of 640 marks

  • GRE- a score of 310 marks or above

  • NMAT by GMAC- a score of 190 or above

The above mentioned score as referred by the institute as the favourable scores, any candidate who does not have the above mentioned score are not considered in the score range. Candidates can also apply through Bocconi test which is an internal examination held by the institute. This test can be given by any candidate having a safe score or not. For any candidates who have appeared in more than one examination, his best score will be taken into consideration. Candidate having a high score will have more chances of getting an interview call, but for an average scorer, his score could be compensated by his excellence in other areas.

Extra Curricular activities to be considered while selection process

Various extra curricular activities of the candidates are considered while the selection. The activities include relevant work experience, communication skills, creativity, interest in sports or cultural arts and candidates involvement in community or social club are additional consideration to the profile of the candidates.

While filling out the application for the IMB programme, candidates are asked to submit three to four essay type questions, statement of purpose and two references. All this information provided by the can add up to a strong profile of the candidate.

SDA Bocconi Selection criteria: Personal interview

The personal interview is extremely crucial when it comes to extending an admission offer to the candidate Interviews are conducted following an initial pre-selection based on the application submission.

While freshers can expect domain specific questions, candidates with work experience are mostly checked upon industry related topics. When it comes to basic hygiene questions, it is advisable that the candidates be well prepared with these questions in advance. Identifying one’s strengths, shortcomings, key challenges faced in personal and professional space and steps taken to overcome those challenges are some of the common questions asked in the interview. It would be an added advantage if the candidate can support his/her answers with real-life instances.

Is getting into SDA BOCCONI ASIA CENTER MUMBAI difficult with 7.8 CGPA in 10th, 70% in 12th and aggregate of 60% in graduation

There are various factors that are taken into consideration for SDA Bocconi's selection process. For starter's Graduation in any discipline will do good. But on an average the Candidate's work experience is between 3-8 years. But as a fresher, if you have an impeccable Academic record, your application will be considered. And you will have to take a Language Proficiency test like TOEFL/IELTS/PTE/CPE,etc. And the applications are shortlisted considering various factors like Academic profile, Language proficiency test score, work experience and your CAT or GMAT score. GMAT is the most preferred exam here. Now though you have a good Academic profile, you need to come up with a solid Recommendation letter and an outstanding performance in the Interview to be selected for their full time MBA programme here. I have been reading about the course not having a AICTE accredition, wont that affect the value of the course?

I understand that you are interested about some course at SDA Bocconi Asia Center, Mumbai and have noticed that the course is not accredited by AICTE and so to answer your question I would like to advise you that you please do not take this particular course into consideration as most of the organizations do make a note of the fact that whether the candidate has studied from an AICTE approved college or not while placements or during employment as they take this matter into significant consideration.
