Integrated Common Entrance Test (ICET) 2013 Analysis
Integrated Common Entrance Test (ICET) 2013, the MBA entrance exam conducted by Kakatiya University Warangal for the admission of the B-schools in Andhra Pradesh was held on Friday, May 17, 2013. The exam was on the expected pattern. The duration of ICET 2013 is 150 minutes. There are 200 questions divided among three sections, Analytical Ability, Mathematical Ability and Communication Ability. There is 1 mark for each correct answer and no negative marking. The overall difficulty level was moderate to tough.
Let us now have a look at the detailed analysis.
This section had questions on Data Sufficiency, Data Analysis and Reasoning. The Data Sufficiency questions were on Arithmetic, Simple Equations, Profit & Loss, numbers, Averages, Progressions, Quadratic Equations, Plane geometry, Logarithms, Coordinate Geometry, Trigonometry, Remainder Theorem, Simple Interest and Calendars.
There were two Data Interpretation sets. One of the set had five questions and another had three questions. There were two questions on Venn Diagrams. There were 9 questions on number series and letter series. There were mathematical and verbal analogy questions as well. There were 25 questions in this area. The difficulty level was slightly higher compared to last year.
This section had 75 questions. The questions were quite calculation intensive and hence time consuming. The surprise in this section was questions on Matrices, Surds and Modulus were not asked in previous years’ ICET. The topics were Indices, Surds, Ratio & Proportion, Percentages, Profit & Loss, Numbers, Time & Work, Modulus, Modular Arithmetic, Mensuration and Time & Distance.
The topics on Algebra, Statistics and Geometry were on Co-ordinate Geometry, Trigonometry, Matrices, Binomial, Reminder Theorem, Sets, Relations, Functions, Maths Logic, Limits, Derivatives, Statistics, Probability, Progressions, Quadratic Equations, Simple Equations, Numbers and Geometry. The overall difficulty level of this section was tough.
There were 40 questions in this section. Verbal Ability part had 25 questions and the Reading Comprehension area had 15 questions. The Vocabulary section had questions on synonyms and fill in the blanks. The grammar questions were on idioms, functional grammar and conversation and statement.
There were 3 Reading Comprehension passages. Two of the passages were easy and had direct questions, the third passage was quite difficult. Overall, this section could be termed as difficult.
Computer and Business Terminology was another part of the Communication Ability section. The difficulty level of this section was moderate to tough.
