IIMs face snag in CAT 2012 results of 80 candidates
After 5 months of declaration of the CAT 2012 results and the end of the admission process of the IIMs and the top B-schools, IIMs have declared that the scores of 80 CAT 2012 test takers have been inflated by tampering the official website of CAT 2012, www.catiim.in. There are many differences in the CAT 2012 candidates’ scores as compared to the master database of the scores (those received from Prometric).
CAT 2012 result was declared on Wednesday, January 9, 2013. The test results, which included the section wise score and percentiles was published in the CAT website, (hosted and managed by M/s Web Weavers). After an examination of the basis of a complaint, it was revealed that it is the result of only 80 candidates, which have been found tampered with. The results of the rest of the CAT 2012 test takers’ results are intact in both the CAT website as well as the master database.
IIMs have filed an FIR on Saturday, June 15, 2013 and investigations are going on. However, IIMs claim that they have referred to the master data for shortlisting and final selection of the students, hence there is no doubt about the sanctity of admission process of the 2013-15 batches of the 13 IIMs. But the top non-IIM B-schools who have referred to the scores available in the CAT website are under doubts about the admission of those 80 candidates. “Non-IIM institutes that have a formal relationship for the use of CAT scores are being alerted and scores from master database are being provided to them. The IIMs are reviewing the process by which data are managed and published externally,” said Prof. SSS Kumar, CAT 2012 Convener. CAT 2012 was conducted by IIM Kozhikode in a 21 day window between October 11, 2012 and November 6, 2012.
