IIM Indore IPM Aptitude Test 2013 Analysis
IIM Indore conducted the Aptitude Test for its 5 year Integrated Program in Management on Wednesday, May 15, 2013. The paper was on the expected lines and was of moderate difficulty level. The 2 hour paper consisted of 2 sections, Quantitative Ability and Verbal Ability. The total number of questions was 100. There were 4 marks for each correct answer and negative marking of 1 mark for each wrong answer.
Let us have a look at the section wise analysis.
This section had 40 questions. The overall difficulty of this section was easy. There were 2 Reading Comprehension passages with 5 questions each. The other questions were on Vocabulary. The topics were Synonyms, Antonyms, Jumbled Sentences, Para completion, Word Usage, Phrase Replacement and Fill in the Blanks.
This section had 60 questions. The difficulty level of the section was quite tough. The areas from which questions appeared were Number System, Percentages, Profit and Loss, Average, Alligation, Mixture and Solution, Ratio and Proportion, Simple Interest-Compound Interest, Time speed and distance, Time and work, Progressions, Geometry and Mensuration, Inequalities, Logarithms and Graphs.
The surprise in this section was the introduction of Data Interpretation and Analytical Reasoning. Last year, there were no questions from this area. Some of the questions in this section were also reported to be erroneous.
The majority of the questions were on Arithmetic and Algebra. However, the questions were not straightforward and involved complicated thinking. The questions on Trigonometric Identities increased the difficulty level of the section.
The questions on Log were based on basic identities and were moderate in nature. Questions on inequalities were quite challenging for the test takers.
Expected cut off
According to the experts, a net score of 220 to 230 should be sufficient to get a call for the Personal Interview round. The result is scheduled to be declared on Wednesday, May 22, 2013.
