IIMs, the conducting body of CAT will declare CAT 2016 Result on January 9, 2017, at 10 AM. Upon clicking the ‘Existing Users’ tab on the official website, it states, “The Login to form will be available only between 09-01-2017 10 Hours 00 Minutes to -Hours Minutes”. From this statement, it can be assumed that the CAT result 2016 will be declared on January 9. As per the CAT 2016 important dates, the result was scheduled to be announced in the second week of January.
Careers360 has earlier reported that the CAT 2016 Results will be announced after January 7 and the same can now be confirmed by the official announcement on the CAT website that the results will be announced on January 9.
At first, the test takers will receive an SMS alert from IIM Bangalore indicating about the release of CAT 2016 result. The SMS will contain the total score and percentile secured by the candidates. They can download their CAT score-cards by logging to the website via their CAT 2016 credential. CAT result will have an overall and section wise scores of the candidates.

After the announcement of the result, the shortlist will be done according to the CAT Cutoff, which has been declared by most of the IIMs. According to the experts, owing to the higher level of difficulty, the CAT 2016 cutoff is expected to go down. Arks Srinivas, CEO, Vistamind says, "Last year, getting 180 marks resulted in candidates securing 99 percentile. This year, it is expected that 165 marks would lead to 99 percentile."
This year, around 1.95 lakh candidates took CAT 2016. The total number of applicants was 2,32,434. Last year, out of 2.18 lakh registered candidates, as many as 1,79,602 candidates had appeared for the test. The result was declared on January 8, 2016. As many as 17 out of 1,79,602 CAT takers secured 100 percentile.
CAT 2016 was held on December 4, 2016 across India in forenoon and afternoon sessions. Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) was the testing partner of CAT 2016.
