IIM Ahmedabad Final Placement Report 2019 - IIM Ahmedabad has completed the final placement process for the batch of 2019 in three clusters which were participated by companies divided into 23 cohorts. A total of 139 companies participated in 184 roles. According to IIM Ahmedabad, the placement process was completed in two stages. Lateral, and final placement. As many as 36 companies participated in the lateral placement process in which they hired candidates with mid-level work experience. The participating companies belonged to diverse backgrounds such as technology, banking, consulting, general management and analytics. Firms which participated in the Laterals process included Flipkart, Lodha Group, Microsoft, EY Parthenon, Uber and Wipro Global.
In the final placement, students were provided with the flexibility of making “dream” applications to firms of their choice in a subsequent cluster even with a job offer in hand. IIM Ahmedabad mentions that there were 143 dream applications this year. Students also had the opportunity to work under the mentorship of Centre for Innovation, Incubation and Entrepreneurship (CIIE), IIM Ahmedabad on their entrepreneurial ideas.
College Comparison based on Courses, Placement, Rank, Fee
Prof. Amit Karna, Chairperson of the Placement Committee said, “The Final placement process this year was yet another opportunity for our valued recruiters to find future leaders for their organizations. This year we got an opportunity to welcome 33 new recruiters, including a new cohort of media & advertising firms. The 143 'dream applications' made by our students demonstrates the effectiveness of cluster-cohort system where students are pursuing opportunities in sectors and firms of their choice across sectors. The recruiters also reposed faith in our placement process by bringing varied and diverse roles and exceeding their commitments on all fronts. To us, this is clear evidence of the quality of students that our PGP curriculum produces. I wish all the students a successful career ahead.”
IIM Ahmedabad Sector Wise Placement Trend
Recruiters in the management consulting domain included Accenture Strategy, A.T. Kearney, Bain & Co., McKinsey & Co., Monitor Deloitte, Oliver Wyman and The Boston Consulting Group among others. Accenture Strategy made the most offers (including Pre-Placement Offers) at the end of the final placement process with 24 offers, followed by Boston Consulting Group with 20 offers.
Prominent recruiters in the Investment Banking and Markets space included Barclays, Citi, Credit Suisse, Goldman Sachs, HSBC and JP Morgan. IIM Ahmedabad mentions, “This year, the Private Equity & Venture Capital (PE/VC) cohort witnessed a 200 per cent increase in participating firms vis-à-vis last year and included recruiters like Matrix Partners and SAIF Partners.” The Banking, Financial Services & Insurance recruiters included firms like American Express and FinIQ. Among the investment banks, Avendus and JP Morgan were the highest recruiters which extended nine and eight offers respectively.
Sales & Marketing
Sales and marketing roles were offered by regular recruiters like HUL, Nestle, P&G, Reckitt Benckiser and Wipro Consumer Care among others. Hindustan Unilever (HUL) extended the maximum number of offers, which is five. HUL was followed by Mondeléz and Wipro Consumer Care with three offers each.
The top companies making offers in the General Management cohort were Aditya Birla Group, C.K. Birla, RPG Group and Tata Administrative Services among others. Aditya Birla Group was the highest recruiter in this cohort with nine offers.
Consumer Services and Consumer Tech
Etihad Airways, IndiGo and Tata Sky were among the top recruiters of Consumer Services cohort. The Consumer Tech cohort saw participation from firms like Microsoft, Ola, Oyo Rooms, Paytm, Uber and Zomato among others. In this cohort, Paytm was the largest recruiter with 10 offers, followed by Microsoft (eight).
Retail B2B & B2C
In this cohort, Flipkart extended the highest number of offers, 14, followed by Amazon with 11 offers.
Kautuk Kushansh, the Recruitment Secretary at IIM Ahmedabad said, “This placement season, we saw a lot more students exercising their options to pursue their target sectors through dream applications. Further, in line with the demand from the batch and in continuation of the summer placement process, we strengthened cohorts such as PE/VC and Asset management by adding newer firms and added newer cohorts like ‘media and advertising’.”

iim ahmedabad short lists candidate according to academic marks and cat percentile. suppose you get 99 percentile in cat , but your academic is not that good there may be no chances for you to get selected. if you have more than of 90 percentage marks in 10th, 12th and graduation and along with excellent cat score you have fair chances to get calls.
