CAT 2015 to be held on November 29; Application process to start from August 6
CAT 2015 will be held on Sunday, November 29, 2015. The application window of around one-and-a-half months will begin from Thursday, August 6, 2015. While the official notification will be released on Sunday, July 26, 2015, the official website will be launched on Monday, July 27, 2015.
IIM Ahmedabad officials, the conducting body for CAT 2015, shared the information with Careers360 prior to the notification of the exam. Unlike the previous years of the computer based CAT, this year the exam will be held in a single day, i.e. November 29 in 2 slots.
Dr. Tathagata Bandyopadhyay, CAT 2015 Convenor from IIM Ahmedabad has indicated major changes in the exam pattern. According to him, there is going to be a major change in the pattern which will help the students from non engineering background to crack the test. “One of our concerns is, score in Quant dominates the percentile rank in CAT. As a consequence it brings in skewness to the selection process towards a particular set of candidates from a particular background. This year we intend to address it by making some changes in the test content and also by rationalizing weights assigned to different components of the test.”
The CAT website will be operational from Monday, August 27, 2015. The new website will include the detailed information pertaining to application procedure, important dates, exam pattern, scoring and normalization process, participating institutes, test cities etc. Since last year, the application process was completely online and it is expected that the same procedure will be continued this year as well.
Owing to the single day test window, the number of test cities has been increased to 115 from 99.
