CAT 2015 application process starts from August 6 - Tick off the checklist now
The registration or application process for CAT 2015 starts from Thursday, August 6, 2015. If you are aspiring to take the test, you need to complete the application procedure by Sunday, September 20, 2015. The registration process is slated to take around an hour and you need to keep information such as your past academic record, work experience handy to fill up the application form. You will also have to upload your photograph and signature and upload documents. Before you start with the application process, you must ensure that you fulfill the eligibility criteria. As per the eligibility criteria, candidates need to be graduates in any discipline with minimum 50% marks in aggregate or equivalent CGPA for the General category candidates. Candidates from the reserved category should obtain minimum 45% aggregate or equivalent CGPA.
Final year students can also apply provided they complete the Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification with requisite percentage by June 30, 2016.
Email id and mobile number
The first step of registration is to enter your email id and mobile number. Hence, before starting the registration process, login to the email id and check ensure its smooth functioning. Ensure the functioning of the mobile number as well so that there is no hindrance in receiving messages sent by CAT 2015 authorities.
The registration process for CAT 2015 will be completely online. Whether you fill it up from your home, college, office or internet cafÃ©, make sure that it has a high speed and uninterrupted internet connection.
Documents and Certificates
For filling up the application form, you have to enter the information about the percentages obtained in the board exams, graduation and or post-graduation. If you belong to the reserved category, you will have to upload scanned copies of supporting documents such as NC-OBC /SC/ST certificates and PWD/DA certificates.
Passport size photograph and signature
While filling the application form, you need to upload your passport size photograph and signature. The dimension of the photograph should be 35 mm x 45 mm and that of the signature is 80 mmx35 mm.The photograph and signature should be in .jpeg or .jpg format and the file size should not exceed 80 KB.
The application fee is Rs. 1600 for General category candidates and Rs. 800 for the reserved category candidates. Since the payment mode is online, i.e. you have to pay through your Credit/Debit Card or Net Banking, ensure your account has the requisite amount in case you are paying by Debit Card and Net Banking.
Selecting test cities
This year, CAT will be conducted in 136 cities across the country. You will have to enter choice of 4 cities based on the priority of your preference. As per the list of states and Union Territories mentioned in the CAT 2015 official website, 8 states/Union Territories have not been enlisted. If you belong to those states and areas, you need to select the 4 convenient locations located in your neighbour states. These states/Union Territories are Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu, Lakshadweep, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura. Prior to the registration process, select the cities so that you don’t spend too much time in completing the application.
Although Dr. Tathagata Bandyopadhyay, CAT 2015 Convenor says that the candidates need not rush to complete the process, still it won’t harm if you complete the process in the early days. After completing the process, you will receive a confirmation email. The admit card download process will start from October 15, 2015.
