Talking to Careers360 after the CAT 2013 results were announced, Dr Rohit Kapoor of IIM Indore said that the next stage for IIM admissions has already started with different IIMs preparing their shortlist which will be announced by January end.
“With the declaration of CAT 2013 results, all IIMs have started their respective shortlisting process,” he said, adding, hopefully most of the IIMs will announce their shortlist by end of January 2014.
The IIMs altogether are expected to shortlist about 15,000 candidates for the next round of selection process for 3335 seats at IIMs.
The six new IIMs – Kashipur, Raipur, Ranchi, Rohtak, Trichy, and Udaipur- which have a total of around 800 seats, will be conducting a combined selection process of Written Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI). According to IIM Trichy, which will be conducting Common Admission Process (CAP) on behalf of new IIMs, about 10,000 candidates will be shortlisted for the next stage that will include WAT and PI. The CAP for new IIMs will begin in Mid-February and end by second week of March, 2014.
This year IIMs have increased their capacity with adding 115 more seats across all the 13 IIMs to take the total number of seats at IIM from 3220 in 2012 to 3335 this year. Still, CAT 2013 witnessed the lowest number of CAT takers as compared to past years. The final number of CAT 2013 Registration dropped to 1.94 lakh and total number of test takers further fell with only 1.74 lakh candidates appearing for the test.

CAT 2013 was held in a 20-day window from 16 October to 11 November 2013. The 20-day testing window which followed a consistent exam pattern remained glitch free except Day-10 when a wrong question appeared at a few test centres.
On day-10 of the CAT testing window, the IIMs were caught on the wrong foot when around 300 test-takers were affected with the ‘publishing error’ in CAT test paper. The IIMs, which initially sought to downplay the episode, had said that the affected candidates are evaluated on their performance barring the wrong question that appeared in their test paper.

First of all congratulations on securing 640 rank in jee mains paper 2 from sc category.
You rank is good and definitely you can get nits, even if you belong from andhra pradesh.
Now as per seeing the last year cutoff trends for jee mains paper 2, with your sc category rank you can get b.arch in :-
- NIT RAIPUR
- VNIT NAGPUR.
Because, Last year the highest cutoff closing rank for nit raipur for other State sc candidates was - 686. And for vnit nagpur it was - 684.
