What is MAT Percentile?
In the MAT score card, for each of the sectional scores, percentile is mentioned. This MAT percentile can be termed as percentage of the all candidates who scored below a candidate based on administration of the entire MAT exam. For example, if 6000 candidates appeared in a particular MAT exam session, the percentile of each candidate will be calculated based on the performance of the rest of the 5999 candidates.
How to calculate MAT Percentile?
For calculation of MAT percentile, the following formula is applied:
*Composite Score obtained by a candidate/ total number of candidates X 100 = MAT percentile
*- MAT composite score is referred to the marks calculated on the basis of performance in the first four sections of the exam
Percentile shows the number of candidates scoring less than a particular candidate in the MAT exam. Some of the B-Schools accepting MAT scores offer admission on the basis of composite scores while the remaining take MAT percentile for final selection of candidates. Candidates who clear the MAT cutoff are called for Group Discussion (GD), Personal Interview (PI) and Written Ability Test (WAT) for final admission.
MAT Cut off
MAT cut offs for MBA/ PGDM admission are fixed by MAT participating colleges. This minimum score fixed by the B-schools for shortlisting of candidates for admission is called MAT cut off and it is a mandatory criterion to be fulfilled. MAT cut off percentile of top MBA colleges accepting the MAT exam score is usually above 90 percentile.
