About MAT 2023
The MAT entrance exam is conducted by the All India Management Association (AIMA) four times a year – February, May, September, and December. AIMA is conducting the MAT 2023 entrance exam in three modes namely – Computer-based test (CBT), Paper-based test (PBT), and Internet-based proctored test (IBT). As per the December MAT 2023 exam date, the registration process began in online mode. The last date to submit the MAT CBT 2 application form is December 11 and IBT is December 14.
Admit card for the MAT 2023 December cycle will be issued online two days after the closing of the registration window. The MAT 2023 question paper contains 200 MCQs from five sections - Language Comprehension, Data Analysis & Sufficiency, Mathematical Skills, Intelligence & Critical Reasoning, and Indian & Global Environment. The MAT 2023 result will be declared in the last week of December 2023. Candidates will be able to download the MAT Scorecard from the official AIMA website - mat.aima.in (Applicant dashboard).

What is the MAT exam?
The Management Aptitude Test (MAT) is a standardized test conducted since 1988 that helps business schools (B-schools) screen applicants for admission to MBA and allied programs. The Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India recognized MAT as a national-level examination in 2003.
Any B-school – National/ International – can consider MAT score as an admission input based on the scorecards issued to the candidates. The largest test in the country, MAT will continue to be your passport to over 600 B-schools across India. Around 20,000 candidates appear for the MAT exam in every session.

AIMA has prescribed the eligibility criteria for MAT exam 2023. Candidates who are going to appear for the exam must meet the eligibility criteria as laid by the AIMA. There is no age bar, candidates of any age can appear for MAT exam. Check below the detailed eligibility criteria.
- To apply for the examination, as per the MAT eligibility criteria 2023, a candidate must have completed graduation in any discipline from a recognized institute or university.
- Even final-year graduation students from any stream can apply for the exam. AIMA hasn’t mentioned any age limit for the exam.
- Interestingly, one can appear for the exam as many times as he/she wants.
- There is no specific age limit for MAT exam date 2023.

- 1st Step: Register by providing the necessary details.
- 2nd Step: Log in using email, password, and date of birth, and click on the “Submit” button.
- 3rd Step: Fill Registration Form & Choices for Management Institutes(MI).
- Candidates can select as many MIs on payment of an additional fee of Rs 118.
- 4th Step: Upload Photo and Signature - photograph (20KB to 150 KB) and signature (20KB to 150 KB)
- 5th Step: Make Payment of the registration fee through Debit / Credit Card / Net Banking.

As per the latest exam pattern, AIMA conducts the MAT exam 2023 in both online mode and offline modes. Candidates can choose to appear in any mode or more than one mode of the MAT exam. It is advisable to check the pattern of the exam in detail to understand the marking scheme, duration of the exam, type of question, etc. The exam pattern for each format will be the same as given below.

The duration of the exam is of 2 hours and 30 minutes (150 minutes). Each section has 40 questions and each question carries 1 mark. For each incorrect answer, 0.25 marks will be deducted. To have insights on exam day, candidates need to take up MAT mock test by visiting the official website of AIMA. The major advantage of taking the MAT 2023 mock test will be that candidates will be able to access their own performance before the actual exam and are able to gauge and change their preparation strategy if felt necessary. IBT mock test will be available on the official website.
The admit card for MAT 2023 PBT will be issued on December 7, 2023, and CBT 2, will be issued on December 13. The admit card will be available on various dates based on the exam date. Candidates will be able to download the MAT exam admit card by login into their dashboard, using a registered email ID and password. AIMA will not send a hard copy of the admit card to any candidate.
Details like the name of the candidate, photograph, signature, date of the exam, the name of the venue and address, etc. will be mentioned on the MAT 2023 admit card. The admit card is a must-have document as no candidate is allowed to appear for the exam without the admit card of MAT 2023.

The MAT 2023 result for the December cycle will be declared in the third week of December 2023. The B-schools which accept MAT scores will shortlist the candidates as per their prescribed cutoff criterion. The MAT participating institutes will release their cut-off of MAT 2023 as soon as MAT result is announced. Basically, the candidates who meet the cutoff criterion are shortlisted for the selection process.
The MAT 2023 cut off can either be in the form of percentile or marks. The cutoff score ranges from 250 to 700 vary from institute to institute. The cutoff depends on various factors including the Difficulty level of the test, the total number of test-takers, the total number of seats offered by an institute, etc.

A written test, Group Discussion (GD), and Personal Interview (PI) is a part of the MAT 2023 selection process. The writing test is also known as WAT (Writing Ability Test). Not all the MAT 2023 participating institutes conduct all three selection rounds.
Final admission is offered on the basis of the candidate’s performance in all the rounds of the MAT 2023 selection process. Some institutes may also consider past academic records (marks in 10th, 12th, and graduation), work experience, and other achievements before offering the final admission.

MAT 2023 GD and PI Process
GD and PI are an integral part of the MAT selection process 2023 which is conducted by various participating institutes. These rounds are usually conducted to check the interaction & communication skills and self-confidence of the candidates.
These rounds are to check the candidate's knowledge of current affairs, his or her views on a certain topic or situation and, how s/he reacts or responds to the questions they are unaware of.
Candidates need to perform almost equally well in these rounds as a certain weightage is given to these rounds in the final merit list.
