MAT Exam 2023 Latest Update:  All India Management Association (AIMA)  will conduct MAT exam 2023 in three modes on multiple dates. According to the May MAT exam date, CBT 1 test will be held on May 14. The candidates will be asked across five sections, with 40 multiple choice questions in each section. There will be 200 questions total that need to be answered in 150 minutes. MAT PBT and CBT 2 exam will take place on May 21 and June 4. Management Aptitude Test (MAT) is a national level entrance exam conducted to facilitate MBA colleges to shortlist right candidates for their MBA courses. What is the MAT exam?

Management Aptitude Test ( MAT) is one of the most sought after MBA entrance exam accepted by more than 600 B-schools in India.  All India Management Association (AIMA) conducts the MAT entrance exam in February, May, September and December. The interested and eligible candidates can fill  MAT registration form 2023 online at the official website. 

MAT exam 2023 will be conducted in the following modes of test. 

1) Paper-Based Test (PBT) 

2) Computer-Based Test (CBT)

3) Internet-Based Test (IBT)  

As per the exam pattern of MAT 2023, the exam includes multiple-choice questions only. Around 20,000 candidates appear for the MAT exam in every session.

AIMA has prescribed the eligibility criteria for MAT exam 2023. Candidates who are going to appear for the exam must  meet the eligibility criteria as laid by the AIMA.  There is no age bar, candidates of any age can appear for MAT exam. Check below the detailed eligibility criteria.

• To apply for the examination, as per the MAT eligibility criteria 2023, a candidate must have completed graduation in any discipline from a recognized institute or university.
• Even final-year graduation students from any stream can apply for the exam. AIMA hasn’t mentioned any age limit for the exam.
• Interestingly, one can appear for the exam as many times as he/she wants.
• There is no specific age limit for MAT exam date 2023.

All India Management Association (AIMA) seeks the applications for the MAT exam 2023 in online mode. The MAT registration 2023 dates for PBT, CBT and IBT modes are different. How to fill out MAT Application form 2023:

• 1st Step: Register by providing the necessary details.  
• 2nd Step: Login using email, password, and date of birth, and click on the “Submit” button.
• 3rd Step: Fill Registration Form & Choices for Management Institutes(MI).
• Candidates can select as many MIs on payment of an additional fee of Rs 118.
• 4th Step: Upload Photo and Signature - photograph (20KB to 150 KB) and signature (20KB to 150 KB)
• 5th Step: Make Payment of the registration fee through Debit / Credit Card / Net Banking.

• 6th Step: View/Download the Registration form and take printout
• 7th Step: Update details if required. The candidate can edit a few specific details after downloading and reviewing the registration form.

Note: Candidates opting for both PBT and CBT have the added benefit of selecting 2 MIs additionally apart from the existing option of selecting 5 MIs. So they can select 7 MIs in total.

Application Fees

As per latest exam pattern, AIMA will conduct mat exam 2023 in both online mode and offline modes. Candidates can choose to appear in any mode or more than one mode of MAT exam. It is advisable to check the pattern of the exam in detail to understand the marking scheme, duration of the exam, type of question, etc. Exam pattern for each format will be the same is given below.

The duration of the exam is of 2 hours and 30 minutes (150 minutes). Each section has 40 questions and each question carries 1 mark. For each incorrect answer, 0.25 marks will be deducted. Candidates are advised to strategize their preparation as per the exam pattern of MAT 2023. It will allow them to score better in the exam.

MAT 2023 Exam Pattern - Details

To have insights on exam day, candidates need to take up MAT mock test by visiting the official website of AIMA. The major advantage of taking the MAT 2023 mock test will be that candidates will be able to access their own performance before the actual exam and are able to gauge and change their preparation strategy if felt necessary. IBT mock test will be available on the official website.

The PBT and CBT MAT admit cards is issued in online mode and can be downloaded at the official website of AIMA MAT.  Candidates need to download for the each of mode of exam they want to appear. If you want to appear for both PBT and CBT, you need to download MAT admit card separately for each format of the test.  The candidates can download the MAT exam admit card by login into their dashboard, using registered email ID and password. AIMA will not send a hard copy of the admit card to any candidate.

Details like the name of the candidate, photograph, signature, date of the exam, the name of the venue and address, etc. will be mentioned on the MAT 2023 admit card. The admit card is a must-have document as no candidate did not allow to appear for the exam without the admit card of the MAT 2023 February session.

How to download MAT Admit Card 2023 (CBT/ PBT/ IBT Mode):

Follow the steps below to download the admit card:

• Open the official website -mat.aima.in.
• Login to candidates dashboard, using registered email ID and password.
• Click on the view and download MAT admit card.
• Download it as a PDF file and take a printout of the same.
• Keep it safe for future reference.

MAT 2023 Exam Day Guidelines (Not applicable for IBT mode)

• Candidates are advised to visit the exam centre one or two days prior to the exam to avoid last-minute confusion on the exam day
• Carry a pen with you if you are giving the exam in PBT mode
• Electronic gadgets like mobile phones, digital calculators, electronic watches, or any such items are prohibited, hence candidates must ensure they don't carry any such item with them to the exam centre
• A Digital photocopy of the MAT admit card 2023 will not be considered a valid ID proof
• It is mandatory for candidates to carry the original copy of the admit card.

AIMA releases MAT result for PBT, CBT, and IBT in online mode. It has released the MAT result 2023 for February session. Candidates can check the result of MAT exam and download the scorecard at the official website by login into their dashboard, using the registered email ID and password. AIMA does not send any copy of the result to the candidates through email or post. 

Candidates can use MAT score to apply for more than 600 B-schools across India. Based on MAT score, MBA colleges accepting MAT score will shortlist candidates for further admission rounds such as GD, PI, etc. Candidates should note that selection criteria will vary across MAT colleges.

The scorecard comprises of the following details,

• Marks obtained in each section - Language Comprehension, Mathematical Skills,
  Data Analysis & Sufficiency, Intelligence & Critical Reasoning, Composite Score & Indian & Global Environment.

Top Colleges in India offering MBA

The B-schools which accept MAT scores will shortlist the candidates as per their prescribed cutoff criterion. The MAT participating institutes will release their cut-off of MAT 2023 as soon as MAT result is announced. Basically, the candidates who meet the cutoff criterion are shortlisted for the selection process. 

The MAT 2023 cut off can either be in the form of percentile or marks. The cutoff score ranges from 250 to 700 vary from institute to institute. The cutoff depends on various factors including the Difficulty level of the test, the total number of test-takers, the total number of seats offered by an institute, etc.

MAT Cutoff - Participating Institutes

The MAT cut off of B-schools will be based on several factors such as score in MAT exam, number of test takers, previous year cutoff, etc. Those who meet the cutoff will be shortlisted for the selection/admission process. The MAT 2023 cut off will be released in the form of score.

A written test, Group Discussion (GD), and Personal Interview (PI) is a part of the MAT 2023 selection process. The writing test is also known as WAT (Writing Ability Test). Not all the MAT 2023 participating institutes conduct all three selection rounds. Final admission is offered on the basis of the candidate’s performance in all the rounds of the MAT 2023 selection process. Some institutes may also consider past academic records (marks in 10^th, 12^th, and graduation), work experience, and other achievements before offering the final admission.

MAT scorecard is accepted by more than 600 B-schools. There are around 350 registered institutes under AIMA, that accept candidates' admission on the basis of MAT scores. Whereas, around 250 institutes that are not registered under AIMA also accept MAT scores for admission. 

Every participating institute has its own admission/selection procedure which generally includes a Written Ability Test (WAT), Group Discussion (GD), and Personal Interview (PI) rounds. Candidates appearing for MAT 2023 are advised to check the process of each institute on the basis of their preference individually. GD and PI are an integral part of the MAT selection process 2023 which is conducted by various participating institutes. These rounds are usually conducted to check the interaction & communication skills and self-confidence of the candidates.

These rounds are to check the candidate's knowledge of current affairs, his or her views on a certain topic or situation and, how s/he reacts or responds to the questions they are unaware of.

Candidates need to perform almost equally well in these rounds as a certain weightage is given to these rounds in the final merit list.
