About MAT 2019

All India Management Association (AIMS) conducts Management Aptitude Test or popularly known as MAT four times a year for admission to around 600 B-schools across India. MAT is a national level MBA entrance test conducted in the month of February, May, September and December. MAT 2019 February exam will be conducted in offline (paper-pencil) on Sunday, February 17, and in computer-based mode(CBT) on February 23. Candidates can choose to write the exam in either or both the modes. The exam has multiple choice questions only. Around 20,000 candidates appear for every session of MAT exam.

To apply for MAT 2019 February exam, graduation in any discipline from a recognised institute or university is a must. Even final year graduation students from any stream can apply for the exam. AIMA hasn’t mentioned any age limit for the exam. Interestingly, one can appear for the exam as many time as he/she wants. This is all about the MAT 2019 eligibility criteria. 

AIMS has reserved seats for the students of Schedule Castes, Schedule Tribes, Other Backward Classes. 

Make sure you check the eligibility criteria of MAT 2019 before applying and apply for the exam only if you are eligible.

The application form of MAT 2019 is available in online mode only. For MAT February 2019, the application form was made available from December 16, 2018. For the offline exam, the last date of application is February 8, 2019 and for the online exam, February 12, 2019 is the last date to apply.

One can pay the application fee online via Debit/Credit card or Netbanking. While filling in the MAT 2019 application form online, an applicant is required to upload the scanned image of photograph and signature as well.

The MAT application fee for both Paper-based test and Computer-based test is Rs. 1550. However, if one chooses to write the exam in both offline and online modes, the application fee is Rs. 2650.

MAT E-books and Sample Papers

AIMA conducts the MAT exam in both online mode or offline mode. Candidates can select the mode as per their convenience. Knowing the MAT exam pattern 2019 is a must before appearing for the exam.

As per the exam pattern of MAT 2019, the exam has a total of 200 objective type questions (multiple choice questions) divided into five sections – Language Comprehension, Intelligence and Critical Reasoning, Data Analysis and Sufficiency, Mathematical Skills, and Indian and Global Environment.

The duration of the exam is 2 hours and 30 minutes (150 minutes). Each section has 40 questions and each question carries 1 mark. For each incorrect answer, 0.25 marks is deducted. 

Candidates are advised to strategise their preparation as per the exam pattern of MAT 2019. It would allow them to score better in the exam.

The admit card of MAT 2019 February exam will be available for download from 4 PM on February 9 for the offline exam and for the online exam(CBT), the admit card will be released on February 19, 2019.

The MAT 2019 admit card can be downloaded from the official website of the exam. AIMA doesn’t send the hard copy of the admit card to any candidate.

Details like the name of the candidate, photograph, signature, date of the exam, the name of the venue and address, etc. are mentioned on the MAT admit card 2019.

The admit card is a must-have document as no candidate will be allowed to appear for the exam without the admit card of MAT 2019 February session.

AIMA will release the result of MAT February 2019 on or after February 24. The result can be checked online on the official website of the exam. All test takers need to enter their MAT Registration number and Roll Number to check and download the MAT February result 2019 from the official website. AIMA will not send any copy of the result to the candidates through email and post. MAT score is valid for one year.

More than 600 B-schools across India accept MAT score for their admission process. Candidates are shortlisted first on the basis of their MAT score and called for the selection procedure – Writing test, GD, and PI. The selection rounds may differ from institute to institute.

The B-schools which accept MAT scores will shortlist the candidates as per their prescribed cutoff criterion. The MAT participating institutes will release their cutoff after the declaration of the result. Basically, the candidates who meet the cutoff criterion are shortlisted for the selection process. 

The MAT 2019 cutoff can either be in the form of percentile or marks. The cutoff score ranges from 250 to 700 vary from institute to institute.

The cutoff depends on various factors including Difficulty level of the test, total number of test takers, total number of seats offered by an institute, etc.

A written test, Group Discussion (GD), and a Personal Interview (PI) will be a part of the MAT 2019 selection process. The writing test is also known as WAT (Writing Ability test).

Not all the MAT participating institute conduct all three selection rounds. Final admission is offered on the basis of the candidate’s performance in all the rounds of MAT 2019 selection process. 

Some institutes may also consider the past academic records (marks in 10th, 12th, and graduation), work experience and other achievements before offering the final admission.

MAT 2019 GD and PI Process

GD and PI are the integral part of MAT selection process 2019. These rounds are usually conducted to check the interaction & communication skills and self-confidence of the candidates.

These rounds are to check the candidate's knowledge of current affairs, his or her views on a certain topic or situation and, how s/he reacts or responds to the questions they are unaware of.

Candidates need to perform almost equally well in these rounds as a certain weightage is given to these rounds in the final merit list.
