XAT 2020 – XLRI Jamshedpur will conduct the Xavier Aptitude Test, better known as XAT 2020 in the first week of January 2020. XAT is a national level entrance test which is held annually for admission in postgraduate management programmes in 150 management institutions that accept XAT score. The registration for XAT 2020 shall start by the second week of August 2019 in online mode and will continue until the fourth week of November 2019. As per the exam pattern, XAT 2020 is a computer-based test which will consist of two parts. Part A will consist of MCQ questions from topics such as English Language and Logical Reasoning, Decision Making, Quantitative Ability, whereas, the second part consists of General Knowledge. Around 75,000 candidates are expected to appear for the examination across 46 cities. Management aspirants who wish to seek admission through XAT entrance exam, must fulfil the eligibility criteria as prescribed by XLRI Jamshedpur.
One must have a bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognised board or university. The duration of the graduation should be a at least of three years.
Final year graduation students can also apply for XAT 2020 if they complete their degree by June 2020.
XLRI has not prescribed any age limit to apply for the exam under the XAT eligibility criteria 2019.
XAT Eligibility for NRI/Foreign candidates - NRI or foreign national candidates have the option to apply through GMAT scores.
The registration for XAT 2020 will commence online from third week of August. The last date of the application process without late fee will be fourth week of November, 2019. XLRI Jamshedpur will also offer a late registration window after this, in the first week of December 2019.
Steps for XAT Application Process are as given below-
Visit the official site of XAT (xatonline.in) or click on the link given above (link will be available in this article as soon as XAT 2020 registrations open)
Enter basic information like name and contact details to register.
The login credentials will be sent via SMS and email on the registered phone number and email ID.
Log in again to the website and complete the XAT 2020 application process.
To complete the application process, candidates would need to enter personal details, academic details, and professional details. They would also need to select XLRI programmes (optional), and upload photograph and signature.
Finally, pay the application fee.
XAT application process is conducted in two stages. The first stage is the ‘Early’ stage and the second is ‘Late’ application stage. The application fee for the late stage is higher than that of the original application window.
The XAT application fee last year was Rs. 1700 (without late fee). According to last year XAT exam fees, the application received after the deadline had to include the late application fee of Rs. 2000.
For each XLRI programmes, candidates need to pay an additional fee of Rs. 300. The late applications would be charged Rs. 500.
The application fee for XAT 2020 is likely to remain along the same lines. Payment Modes - Candidates need to pay the fee online through Credit Cards, Debit Cards (RuPay / Visa / Master Card / Maestro), and Internet Banking.
The hall ticket of XAT 2020 can be downloaded from the official website of XAT. It will be available for download only for the candidates who successfully fill the XAT application form along with the application fee. The admit card of XAT 2019 will be available from the third week of December 2019 onwards. Candidates must login using their XAT ID and password to download the document. Without XAT 2020 admit card, candidates will not be allowed to appear for the exam. XAT admit card will have the candidate’s name, date of birth and contact details mentioned along with the test centre name and address. Exam day instructions will also be mentioned on the admit card of XAT 2020.
XAT Exam Pattern 2020
XAT 2020 will be a computer-based test (online) of 180 minutes duration. The exam comprises of four sections, namely VA & LR, DM, QA & DI, and GK. From last year onwards, the Essay writing section has been removed from the exam. The table below explains the exam pattern of XAT 2020 in depth:

Marking Scheme - Each question will carry one mark. 1/4th of the total marks allotted to a question will be deducted for each wrong answer. There is negative marking of 0.10 marks for unattempted questions as well, beyond 8.

XLRI doesn’t release any specific syllabus for XAT. However, a list of topics for the exam based on the previous years’ pattern has been suggested by expert. The below-given table explains the XAT syllabus in depth-

XAT Answer Key 2020
The official XAT 2020 answer key and candidate response sheet will be released by XLRI after one week of the exam. Candidates who appeared for the exam can check the answers marked by them and also the actual correct responses using the XAT key. It will allow them to estimate the list of probable colleges they’re likely to get a call from based on their score.
XLRI will also offer the facility to file objections and challenge the answer key of XAT for candidates. To raise objections, candidates must write to [email protected] While raising the objection, candidates must mention the following details-
a. XAT ID
b. Full Name
c. Question ID
d. Mention the objection you have on the particular question and response
e. Enclose the evidence for the objection
f. Mention the subject line of the email as <XAT ID> Objection <Question ID>
XAT Result 2020
The result of XAT will be declared online in the third week of January 2020. Candidates would be able to check the result from the official website using their XAT ID and password. The scorecards would be available for download from January to March end. XAT 2020 scorecard will have the sectional, as well as the overall percentile. XLRI Jamshedpur, the exam conducting body, might also send the hard copy of XAT scorecard to the candidates’ registered address if requested by paying Rs. 300 by Demand Draft in favour of XLRI Jamshedpur, payable at Jamshedpur. Candidates are advised to preserve the scorecard until the admission process gets over.

Last year, the cutoff for XLRI Jamshedpur was released online on January 21, 2020. It is likely to release for XAT 2020 around the same time in January 2020. The XAT 2020 cutoff percentile depends on multiple factors such as difficulty level of the exam, the number of test takers and a number of seats offered in the programme among others. XAT Selection Procedure 2020
The selection procedure of XAT 2020 for all the participating institutes will begin after the announcement of the result and cutoff. It’s important for the candidates to know that the selection process of colleges may vary each other. Usually, it’a two-step process.
First, candidates would be shortlisted on the basis of their XAT score and cutoff of the specific institute. Then, the shortlisted candidates would be called for Writing Ability Test (WAT) or Essay Writing or Group Discussion/Group Activity and Personal Interview rounds.
Some participating institutes conduct GD and PI for the final selection while some conduct WAT and PI. It varies from institute to institute. The B-schools may also consider criteria like past academic records, work experience or the overall profile of a candidate.
