XAT 2017 application starts; test on January 8
The Xavier Aptitude Test, commonly known as XAT has been announced by the official conducting body- XLRI for the academic year 2017-19. The application process for XAT 2017 has started from August 17 and will continue till November 30 and till December 11, 2016, with a late application fee. The test will be conducted on January 8, 2017, across 47 national and 2 international test centres in Dubai and Kathmandu. The other important dates of XAT 2017 have also been announced along with the notification.

Earlier, XAT Convener, Prof. Munish Thakur said that the application process for XAT would start from August 10. However, the process was delayed without any specific reasons from the officials. Affirming on the announcement, the XAT 2017 information has now been made available on its 2017 official website.

As per the XAT 2017 eligibility criteria, candidates with a recognized bachelor’s degree in any of the discipline can apply for the test. Final year graduation students may also apply provided they complete their final exam by June 10, 2017. NRI and foreign candidates may apply to XLRI through GMAT score, except Dubai and Kathmandu wherein candidates have an option of appearing for XAT 2017.
Eligible candidates have to apply for the test by filling the XAT 2017 application forms online mode. The fee can be paid by any of the means mainly, credit card/ debit card/ online banking/ or demand draft. The fee to be paid is Rs 1600, and the late fee is Rs 2000, to be paid by the applicants. The candidates would not be able to select their test centre but can give the city preference on the basis of which the centre will be assigned. The information of the test centre and address will be available on the XAT 2017 admit card.
XAT 2017 exam pattern is similar to that of last years. XAT will be conducted in paper pencil based test of 3 hours duration. The exam is divided into 2 papers. Paper 1 will consist of 78 questions from Quantitative Ability, English Language & Logical Reasoning, Decision Making, with duration of 170 minutes or 2 hours 50 minutes. The Paper 2 will be a mix of an objective as well as subjective questions from General Knowledge (GK) and Essay Writing questions. The duration of Paper 2 is 25 minutes.
From 2016 onwards the marking scheme of XAT changed. The test takers were allowed to leave out 13 questions beyond which there was negative marking of 0.05 marks. For each wrong answer, there was negative marking of 0.25 marks.
The result is expected to be declared in the second week of January 2017. The officials do not announce the exact date, but based on the past years’ trends; it is expected to be announced at the end of the exam month. The candidates have to download the score card from the website which will reveal the section-wise and overall scores and percentiles. The hard copy of the score card will also be sent to the candidates.
The paper pencil based exam is taken by around 90,000 candidates across India and considered to be a hard nut to crack in terms of difficulty level and competitiveness. As many as 148 B-schools will accept the scores of XAT 2017. This will include both Xavier Associate Management Institutes (XAMI) and other B-schools across India.

I have 93% in 10th , 93% in state board; 55%in graduation(math). What percrntile in cat or xat will ensure me a good college ?
It depends, for IIMS you have to score minimum 99 percentile. It is the basic eligibility criteria for iims also they will see your previous marks and then only you are eligible for the further process.
If you want b school than you have to score above 80 or 85 percentile to get admissions in good and reputated institution .
Many college also go for group discussion to eliminate students.

what if i attempt only verbal ,lr and decision-making sections leaving quants in XAT.will be able to score 80 percentile.if yes ,please let me let me know the number of questions i should attempt in these sections.
Hello there. Hope you are doing good. I would like to tell you that if you are targetting top colleges accepting XAT score. Then, it is mandatory to clear sectional cutoffs. You need to score well in each section. Moreover, considering past year XAT scores, you should score approximately 26-27.5 score in order to fetch 80-85 percentile in XAT. You can attempt the questions based on accuracy accordingly.
