Urvashi Dalal, 06 Jan 2017, #TISSNET

The Tata Institute of Social Sciences conducts its national level management entrance test- TISSNET for admissions to its specialised MBA programme. TISSNET 2017 is scheduled to be conducted on Saturday, January 7, 2017, in an online mode in which it is likely that around 20,000 candidates will appear. If you have appeared in other national level tests like CAT, XAT, SNAP, IIFT etc. cracking TISSNET is an easy task for you. With a day left for the test, here is a featured article by Careers360 to gives you some last minute preparation tips and some Dos and Don’ts for the test day.

Let us first look at the TISSNET Exam Pattern 2017The test will be a computer based mode which will have 100 objective questions to be answered within the duration of 1 hour 40 minutes. The objective type test consists of questions related to General Knowledge; Analytical Ability, Logical Reasoning; and English Proficiency. There will be no negative marking for the wrong answers in the test.

Now let us start with the tips and exam day Dos and Don'ts for TISSNET 2017

Ideally, there is not much preparation you need to do at this stage. As Sandeep Manudhane, Chairman, PT Education states, “To be frank, the test is easy. Anyone can easily solve 40-45 questions from the 60 questions give. For a good, well-prepared student, answering around 50-55 questions should be possible. Accuracy also is likely to be high since the questions are not tricky.”

  1. Practice Test in computer based mode: TISSNET is a computer based test, taking a practice test or mocks a couple of days before the exam would make you prepared for the D-Day fully. Make sure that you take the mocks in computer based mode only.

  2. Don’t attempt any new topics: You will not be able to understand the concepts if you start a new topic at this moment. It is important for a successful preparation to not to start a new topic in the last few days of the test.

  3. Time Management: To complete the test on time, it is important to allot equal time to all the sections. If you allot at least 15 to 20 minutes to each section, so that you have requisite time left for revision. Do not attempt questions which you are not sure of to escape the wrath of negative marking of ¼ marks.

  4. Relax and Don’t Stress: As said by an expert, TISSNET is one of the low difficulty level tests, candidates must not take stress rather stay calm and confident about their preparations.

Dos and Don’ts of the Test Day

  1. Carry TISSNET 2017 Admit Card – The Admit Card is a mandatory document to be carried in the test centre. It has to be downloaded online, taken a printout and must be preserved till the entire admission process is complete.

  2. Manage the computer based test – TISSNET 2017 will be a computer based test of 1 hour 40 minutes. There will not be any section wise time divide, hence, manage your time properly. Since there will not be any negative marking scheme, try to attempt as many questions as possible.

  3. Report at the centre one hour prior to schedule – The duration of the exam is 2 pm to 3.40 pm, so reach the test centre by 1 pm. The entry to the centre will start from 1.30 pm. Hence plan your day in advance so that you can reach the centre on schedule.

  4. Read the instructions carefully – Before entering the test hall or after receiving the question papers, read the instructions given in the admit card and in the question paper and abide by them.

The TATA Institute of Social Sciences conducts TISSNET 2017 which is a national level post graduate entrance exam. The exam is conducted for admissions to Masters in Social Work and related programs offered by Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS). TISSNET scores are accepted only by TISS Mumbai only. what happens if a nc-obc candidate clears the cutoff and if by any chance during interview the nc-obc certificate has a minute discrepancy, will he be considered for general category (provided he clears the cut off for a general candidate)?

Rehan Alam Student Expert 14th Oct, 2019

Dear Aspirant,

You have not specified your situation completely. However, according to the information you provided, the minor problems will be like there is something which is non readable, etc. If such type of problem arises and that too after the completion of process, then the authorities might give you some time to produce a new document without any such problem.

While on the other hand if the problem os of bigger nature like it is the central OBC certificate that is required and you have the state's certificate, or the certificate is expired a long time ago, then this might lead to no reservation and you'll be evaluated as a general category student.

Hope this helps. Thank you.

Aman Raj Student Expert 15th Sep, 2019

Hello Kirat

For applying to TISSNET you should have your bachelor's degree with all the arrears cleared. It doesn't matter how many arrears you have at present and how many you had.

Just provide them your 4th Semester Marksheet for the eligibility. But at the time of admission you must have your degree or Course Completion certificate.

Hello my percentage is less then 50 % in my graduation so am I eligible to do MBA ? And to give my entrance exam ?

Prince Student Expert 30th Jul, 2019

Hey Aspirant,

For Admission in MBA or any other master program it's required to have at least 50% in graduation some relaxation is for SC/ST. Some private universities might have lesser eligiblity criteria as well. You can appear in exams like CAT,AIMA,LPUNEST for entrance.

Best of luck
