TISSNET Eligibility CriteriaTISSNET Eligibility Criteria 2018 - Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai, the exam conducting body will announces the TISSNET 2018 eligibility criteria for the exam along with the notification. As per the eligibility criteria of TISSNET, candidates with a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognised university are eligible to apply for the exam. Aspirants must check the eligibility criteria before applying for TISSNET 2018. Application forms will be available from the first week of October, 2018. Candidates can either fill the application form online or send it to TISS, Mumbai by post. The entrance exam will be conducted at different centres spreading across 39 cities of the country and the language of the exam will be English.

General TISSNET Eligibility Criteria 2018


TISS Mumbai states eligibility criteria for TISSNET 2018 for the exam as follows:

  • Candidates with three year’s Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in any discipline from a recognised college/university are eligible to apply.

  • Candidates studying in three and four year degree programmes should have passed in all the subjects of semester 1 to semester 4 and semester 1 to semester 6 respectively at the time of applying for TISSNET 2018.

  • Candidates studying in the final year of their Bachelor’s degree programme are also eligible to apply to all the programmes.  

Factors Determining Eligibility to Apply

  • Candidate’s  ‘Pass Class’ in the Bachelor's Degree will be taken for determining his/her eligibility.

  • Candidates studying in the final year of their Bachelor's Degree programme, but have not passed in all the subjects of all the semesters are not eligible to apply for TISSNET 2018.

  • Candidates who have failed in the final year examination cannot apply for TISSNET 2018 unless they pass their Bachelor's Degree examination on the day of applying for any of the programmes.

  • Providing incorrect or misleading information in the application form will lead to the cancellation of admission if detected at any stage of the selection procedure that includes the test, interview, selection, and admission.

  • The offer of provisional admission stands automatically cancelled for a candidate if he/she is provisionally admitted but fails in the final year examination of his/her Bachelor's Degree Programme. Even if he/she re-evaluates at the college/university, he/she will not be allowed to continue the programme.

TISSNET 2018 Eligibility Criteria for International Students

  • A candidate who is not an Indian Citizen or Permanent Resident of India is considered as an International student. Foreign Nationals, Person of Indian Origin (PIO) card holders, Overseas Citizen of India (OCI-Dual citizens), and Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) are also considered as international students.

  • Candidates falling under this category can apply for a maximum of two programmes across Schools/Campuses. However, they must ensure that they fulfil all the basic eligibility requirements  for the programme(s).

  • Candidates who have pursued their Bachelor’s Degree Programme from a University which is located in a non-English speaking country or where the mode of instruction was not English, would need to provide a proof of proficiency in the English language.

  • Candidates who have qualified from Foreign Universities or Boards of Higher Education recognised as equivalent by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), are eligible for admission.

Candidates can apply for TISSNET 2018 either by submitting the application form online along with required documents or they can send the printed copy of the application form to TISS Mumbai. After that, candidates get admit card which is vital to appear for the nationwide computer-based test.  As per TISSNET 2018 Exam Pattern, the test will carry questions related to Genral Awareness, English Language, Logical Reasoning and Mathematics. The total duration of TISSNET 2018 will be 1 Hour 40 Minutes. Candidates who clear ths test will move to next rounds of the selection procedure – Pre-Interview Test, Group Discussion and Personal Interview.
