After MICA announced results for MICAT-1 on December 23, many test takers have questioned its shortlisting criteria for next stage of selection process. The candidates also sought to know their score cards and expressed their anguish by commenting on the special Facebook page of ‘MICA Official Discussion Group 2016’.

“Even if they tell the number selected for GD/PI…that can also give us some clue…But apparently, they don’t even want to give that …If I have filled a from worth some 2000 bucks I need that information at least,” wrote Shubham Raizada on MICA Official Discussion Group 2016.

Similarly, another candidate Prateek Lohiya commented, “It’s fair and square on candidates’ part to know what the cutoff was and how much they had scored… Even after paying Rs. 2000…if you don’t get analysis of your performance then what is the point …”

A few candidates looked confused over their results and doubted whether their answers were saved.  “Without our score card how do we know, whether our answers were saved by the machines during online testing?” asked a candidate who called up Careers360 counselling Team regarding his MICAT results.

MICA has introduced selection in two phases with separate entrance tests- MICAT-I, MICAT-II, for both the phases.

MICA asks students to trust its processes

Careers360 spoke to MICA admissions office on the allegations. MICA responded by saying that it has a standered procedure of evaluation and candidates should be rest assured about their results. The admission office also advised such candidates to appear for the next MICAT exam which is scheduled for February 14, 2016.

“MICAT has been developed and validated by a team of experts thus maintaining utmost fairness, transparency and objectivity simultaneously,” said Prof Shubhra P. Gaur, Chairperson, Admissions, MICA, Ahmedabad.

The MICAT takers, however, flooded the official MICA Facebook page with requests for MICAT score cards. “At least tell the scores…otherwise it’s pointless to sit for MICAT 2 also,” wrote Shubham.

Is MICAT –II making shortlisting difficult for MICAT –I takers?

Candidates, however, blamed that the newly introduced system for conducting MICAT twice has reduced their shortlisting chances through MICAT. A few candidates also alleged that MICA is prompting candidates to cough-up Rs. 2000 again by making them fill MICAT-II to get shortlisted for next stage of selection process.

“MICA has neither announced our scores, nor the list of shortlisted candidates. It seems they have deliberately shortlisted very few candidates, thus compelling others to take the test again,” said Himadri, who appeared for MICAT-I.

MICA admission office however denied such allegation saying “The rationale behind this (MICAT twice) was to give two opportunities to the candidates to apply to MICA within the same academic year.”

MICA Ahmedabad had announced the results of MICAT-I 2016 on December 23, a week prior to its original schedule of December 31, 2015. Along with the results, the exam officials have also announced the dates for its entrance test- MICAT II, the second round of admission process.

MICAT II will be conducted on Sunday, February 14, 2016, in a Computer Based mode. The application process will start from January 4, 2016.

Rohan Rawat 18th Nov, 2019

Hi there,

As per my knowledge the MICAT-I application form is out and the last date for filling the form is 25th November 2019.

For filling the academic details the aspirant should have atleast 50% in his undergrads and around 65% and above in his class XII and class 10.

* Marks should be in percentage

The Aggregate of marks is considered and not something like Best of 4 or 5 subjects.

I hope this will help you!!
