MICA has admitted to have left out 23 eligible candidates from its GE-PI process of MICAT-I held in the third week of January 2016, revealed an audit undertaken by the admission authorities towards preparing grounds for release of MICAT 1 scorecards.
After the MICAT scorecard audit pointed to this lapse, MICA has said that it will conduct a special round of GE-PI for those 23 candidates. “MICA Admissions Committee is conducting a special GE-PI process for these 23 candidates in Mumbai and Kolkata immediately,” MICA admission office said, adding, “Post our final audit, conducted after the GE-PI process for MICAT - I, we are calling 23 more candidates (13 in Kolkata and 10 in Mumbai) in addition to the 536 called earlier.”
A total of 5, 251 MICA aspirants had applied for MICAT-I. Of this, 536 candidates were called for the GE-PI process scheduled in the third week of January.
MICAT scorecards to be released by Feb 2:
As the final audit of MICAT-I score card is over now, the admission office also said that MICAT-I scorecards will be announced by February 2, 2016. Subsequently, the last date of registration for MICAT-II has also been extended till February 4, 2016.
MICA has introduced MICAT twice for the admission year 2016. Candidates are required to appear for either or both the MICAT on their own discretion. Simultaneously, the group exercise (GE) and personal interview (PI) rounds are also being held in two phases.
Earlier, talking to Careers360 on January 27, MICA dean Dr Atish Chattopadhyay had said that the technical team of MICA was working out the processes for MICAT-I scorecard release. The decision to announce MICAT scorecard came after days of internal consultations as MICA admission office had earlier cited institute policy for not disclosing the scorecards. Careers360 had also represented MICAT takers demands for scorecard release by writing an open letter demanding disclosure of MICAT score cards.
MICA Ahmedabad had announced the results of MICAT-I 2016 on December 23, a week prior to its original schedule of December 31, 2015. Along with the results, the exam officials had also announced the dates for its entrance test- MICAT II, the second round of admission process.
Since MICA has introduced two MICAT exams – MICAT I & MICAT –II, for the same intake of 180 seats this year, MICAT takers had doubted the evaluation process of MICAT-1; and many candidates had alleged that MICA has deliberately shortlisted less number of candidates to prompt MICAT-I takers to take the test again.
MICAT II is scheduled to be conducted on Sunday, February 14, 2016, in a Computer- based mode.
