While MICAT takers have expressed ‘disappointment’ over non-disclosure of their score cards, MICA officials have said that the institute can’t disclose the scores to “keep the sanctity of MICAT as it is; given its nature”.
The MICA response came after many MICAT takers alleged non-transparency in MICAT evaluation and shortlisting process. Many candidates had also recorded their complaint on MICA official Facebook page and demanded their scorecards.
“Different managements at different times have unanimously agreed not to disclose the scores and thus keep the sanctity of MICAT as it is; given its nature,” Prof Shubhra P. Gaur, Chairperson, Admissions, MICA, Ahmedabad told Careers360.
MICA skips query on number of shortlisted candidates, registrations
Given the newly introduced test format where MICAT will be conducted twice for admission year 2016-17, candidates had also sought to know the number of shortlisted candidates through MICAT-I, saying, this was required to build their trust in the MICA test process. The institute, however, refused to share any such numbers.
The reputed institute of communication management also skipped Careers360 queries on number of shortlisted candidates through MICAT –I, saying “In the larger interest of the candidates, who have appeared in MICAT-1 and for the prospective candidates of MICAT-2, we believe answer to these questions should be held in abeyance for the time-being.”
Is MICAT –I result preparing ground for MICAT-II applications?
With all results data confined to MICA admission office itself, MICAT takers have alleged that MICA has deliberately shortlisted less number of candidates so that they take the test again. A few candidates also alleged that MICA is prompting candidates to cough-up an additional Rs. 1965 by compelling them to fill MICAT again for getting into MICA shortlist for GE-PI.
Along with the MICAT-I results, MICA has also announced application for MICAT –II beginning January 4.
MICA admission office however denied such allegation saying “The rationale behind this (MICAT twice) was to give two opportunities to the candidates to apply to MICA within the same academic year.”
MICA Ahmedabad had announced the results of MICAT-I 2016 on December 23, a week prior to its original schedule of December 31, 2015. Along with the results, the exam officials have also announced the dates for its entrance test- MICAT II, the second round of admission process.
MICAT II will be conducted on Sunday, February 14, 2016, in a Computer Based mode.
