Interview:

Careers360: What was your objective behind pursuing Masters in Management Studies? What are your aspirations?

Ajinkya Jain: Since my school days, mathematics has been my favorite subject and Finance my interest area. I wanted to have specialization and in-depth knowledge in the field of finance. My Masters in Management will let me develop an understanding the financial aspects of the corporate world.

My father, being a management consultant for quality management certifications, influenced my decision. I aspire to achieve a global leadership position in the company of my interest.

Careers360: Apart from MAHCET 2014, which other Management entrance exams you appeared in and how was your performance?

Ajinkya Jain: Though MAHCET was my focus, but I also appeared in CAT, XAT, SNAP and IIFT. My percentile in all these exams was above satisfactory. I cracked CAT and XAT with a very good percentile but among my entire percentile in MAHCET was exemplary and I opted to get admission in a B-School via MAHCET scores.

Careers360: Why did you choose to join this B-School? Please also name other B-schools which made final admission offers to you.

Ajinkya Jain: The main reason behind joining JBIMS was its reputation for the Finance course and finance is my interest area so this B-School has what I required. Along with this, factors like location advantage and high Return of Investment (ROI) also contributed to my decision. I also received final admission offer from SIBM.

Careers360: What was your preparation strategy for MAHCET 2014?

Ajinkya Jain: The most significant factor in cracking MAHCET was solving maximum number of mock tests. At the end of last year, DTE declared that for the year 2014, MAHCET for MBA will be conducted in the online format over 2 days in 2 slots each. So, it was necessary to get acquainted to this new format and study accordingly. I developed my strategy accordingly and gave online Mock tests for the exam.

Careers360: How important is Coaching or Mentoring to crack MAHCET or other Management entrance tests?

Ajinkya Jain: To crack any management entrance exam, self-awareness about your strengths, weaknesses and aspirations is the most important factor. If you are confident about your goal, half the battle is already won. Coaching and mentoring is only helpful in grooming your self-confidence.

Careers360: How did you manage MAHCET preparation schedule along with working hours?

Ajinkya Jain: Managing preparation along with work was extremely difficult. There was virtually no time available during weekdays. So, all focus on studies revolved around the free time I got during my weekends. I strategized in such a manner that I solved 3 mock papers on Saturday and Sunday, each followed by 2 more during the weekdays. Pre-planning and effective execution of this schedule allowed me to crack the examination.

Careers360: What was your Time Management formula while taking the actual MAHCET exam?

Ajinkya Jain: Since it is a time-bound test, I was practically left with no time to return back to any question in this exam. So, whenever I attempted any question, it was very important to mark and leave that question. This helped me maximize accuracy and total attempts in the exam.

Careers360: What were your strong and weak areas? How did you prepare to improvise your weak areas?

Ajinkya Jain: My strong areas were Logical Aptitude and Quantitative Aptitude. In Verbal Ability, reading helps significantly. Reading newspaper editorials is the best possible thing one can do to improve Verbal Ability skills. Thankfully I didn’t have any weak areas; I was quiet good in answering all the topics covered in the MAHCET exam.

Careers360: What is your advice for the Management aspirants who will take MAHCET 2015?

Ajinkya Jain: I would advise the management aspirants of MAHCET 2015 to follow this principle: Know yourself, your abilities and the reason why you want to get into the management field. If you have a clear picture of your capabilities in your mind, you can work hard on your weaker areas and emerge as a winner in the race of MBA entrance exams.

Careers360: How did you divide your timings between preparation and recreational activities? What were the activities that you did besides preparing for the exam?

Ajinkya Jain: I am an ardent sports follower; so besides studying for the exam, I always scheduled time to follow different sports like Tennis, Football and Cricket. Sports’ writing is my area of interest and I was passionate about it even during the preparation period.

Careers360: What kind of movies do you enjoy watching? Share the name of your favorite movie and the characters that inspires you.

Ajinkya Jain: I enjoy watching animated superhero movies along with simple romantic comedy. The character that inspires me the most is of Ram Shankar Nikumbh, which was portrayed by Aamir Khan in the movie Taare Zameen Par.

I have got 87percentile in jee mains Jan 2020 shall I work on jee or go for mhtcet?

Richa Gautam 31st Mar, 2020
You should go for mhtcet too as 87 percentile is not good if you are general or OBC category student as 13lac around students would have given the exam and you lie in the first 1.5lacs so you would hardly get a college so go for more options all the best .!!
