As the MAH CET 2015 result has been declared on March 25, the candidates’ first preference lies on Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies (JBIMS) Mumbai. Unlike the previous years, JBIMS will not be conducting the admission process through the Common Admission Process (CAP) or the counseling rounds. Rather, it is not even necessary to appear for MAH CET 2015 to get admission in the 2015-17 batch.
Unlike the last few years, CMAT scores are also not accepted by JBIMS this year. The candidates can apply either through MAH CET 2015 or through the CAT 2014 scores. Now that both the results are out, choose the better of the 2 scores to apply.
In an announcement by DTE, it has been mentioned that JBIMS will not be participating in the CAP 2015 rounds.
The original application deadline for the B-School was January 5, 2015. However, the application window has been opened after the MAH CET 2015 result was announced and will be open till 24 hours. In an announcement, JBIMS mentions, “If you have not marked MAH-CET while submitting the previous form, you will not be allowed to fill your details. No changes can be made to the form submitted earlier.”
If you have already applied for JBIMS with CAT 2014 scores and marked MAH CET as well, you can login to your account to enter your MAH CET 2015 Application Number and score. Unless you have marked your choice for MAH CET, you will not be able to enter your scores.
Hence, if your MAH CET 2015 scores are better than that of your CAT 2014 percentile, make sure that you apply again with your MAH CET scores. If your case is vice versa, you may avoid applying through MAH CET.
Final Selection Process
The candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of MAH CET 2015 or CAT 2014 scores. Shortlisted candidates will have to appear for the in-person assessment rounds. These rounds will include group activity, personal interview and written ability test to be held in Mumbai. A candidate will be admitted based on the combined scores of this personal assessment along with their past academic and extra-curricular achievements.
How the process has changed from last year
Till last year, it was compulsory for the JBIMS aspirants to take MAH CET and participate in the common counseling process. The institute affiliated by University of Mumbai has been granted autonomy in 2014 which allows the institute to conduct their admission process independently.
In the previous years, the qualified candidates had to apply for the CAP rounds in order to be eligible for the admission process. The first preference was given to the MAH CET scores followed by CMAT and CAT scores based on the number of vacant seats.
The eligibility criteria for applying to the MMS programme is that the candidates should be graduates in any discipline from a recognized university or institute with minimum 50% aggregate marks or equivalent CGPA (45% in case of candidates of backward class categories and Persons with Disability belonging Maharashtra State only). Graduation Final year students can also apply. Such candidates can be considered for provisional admission subject to passing the Degree exam with minimum of 50% marks in aggregate* or equivalent CGPA (45% in case of candidates of backward class categories and persons with disability belonging to Maharashtra state only).
The total number of seats offered by JBIMS MMS programme is 120. The fee is Rs. 2 lakh.
