IMT Ghaziabad on September 18 organized a FMCG symposium on ‘Possibility Thinking’, at its campus. The guest of the event was Sunil Kataria, Business Head- India and SAARC, Godrej Consumer Products Ltd (GCPL), also an alumnus of IMT, who shared his experience and insights about FMCG business with the students.Mr. Sunil provided information to the students on how things do not come easy in life and they constantly needs to work hard their way up. He said, “I am a firm believer of possibility thinking. The whole idea behind the thought is that we should never be bogged down by difficulties in life thinking that we are not able to get the most appropriate solution but should try to explore the other possibilities and come up with a solution.”
Elaborating on the symposium theme of ‘FMCG-Knowledge Connect’, Mr. Sunil talked about the business and working culture of his organization, Godrej Consumer Products Ltd (GCPL). He shared his experience as business head of India and SAARC and talked about how innovation is in the DNA of GCPL and how it is necessarily important to survive in fiercely competitive FMCG industry. He said, “We follow a HOW-WOW-NOW’ principle in GCPL where HOW refers to Possibility Thinking, WOW refers to giving excellence and NOW signifies 100% accountability to the organization.
“SAARC countries are similar in quite a few ways but they also have certain distinctions. While Bangladesh is very similar to India in terms of framing product development strategies, Sri Lanka responsesquite differently in that case. This is a type of cross-pollination strategy where the company also makes sure to incorporate the varying local needs and the business environment,” he added.
