Careers360: Describe your work profile? Are you in working in the same field that you aspired for?
Aditi: I majored in marketing while completing my MBA and have been in the same field throughout. At professional level, I started as a Product Manager with ICI Paints, then Planning and Deployment department of Baxter and presently as a Sr. Marketing Manager with Philips. I was focused to develop my career in marketing only as it had always attracted me. The challenges, hardwork, research and the approach towards the customers is what marketing’s all about, and so is my education and career been in the same field.
Careers360: Brief about your career path.
Aditi: Being an adventure seeker, I have dabbled in all the streams that marketing has to offer. I have worked across different industries like healthcare, FMCG, FMCD, Paints to name a few. Undergoing a rigorous internship gradually climbed my way up from junior management to middle management in reputed firms. My career path has been incredible and growing.
Careers360: Is industry work different from what you learnt at B-Schools?
Aditi: As the saying goes ‘Reality bites when the rubber hits the road’, it surely isn't all that theoretical that we were taught during our classes. The theory prepares you how to compete, but the practical exposes you to the real scene. The actual fight arena is where you have to fight in a way you have learnt in your theories. The professional path is a big world and something that offers so much to explore. After completion of our MBA programme, we realize mistakes are unpardonable, appreciations are limited and there is a gallore of hardwork required.
Careers360: How your internship experience had helped you in your first job?
Aditi: My internship was with Dabur in their skin care segment was mostly related to developing the marketing plans. Though it was a lot of hard work and rigor but it was one of the best experiences I had. My internship made me feel good about my decision in developing a career in Marketing as I knew I would be able to utilize the best of me in this domain.
Careers360: What all you gained from your MBA programme at your B-School?
Aditi: Most of us have reached the current position through the learning we got at IMT. Though we might not be meeting very regularly but we inculcated long standing friendships there. I learnt to share, care and let go, celebrate the wins or shed tears at sorrow of each other. It was the value of togetherness be it professionally or personally, the motto of ‘being together’ kept us forward.
Careers360: You must have spent memorable time at your B-School. Share your thought process and a few good memories?
Aditi: The 2 years at IMT were both fun and insightful. Right from inculcating great bonds to learning about the industry to enjoying life, I had a blast. IMT has helped me come out of my cocoon, carve dreams that I learnt to realise and create a ‘home’ away from home. The fun and frolic of the parties, the night time chai and chungi parathas, the amazing juice and burgers, is all I miss today.
I have been a very studious kid all throughout and for me MBA initially meant reading a lot, mugging more and just slogging, this was my initial thought process. But after a few months at IMT, all of this changed into the best time of my academic life and I wasn't complaining at all.
Careers360: Briefly take us through your life at the campus, both academic and non-academic?
Aditi: Well life at IMT was a roller coaster for me. I wasn't a high grader, didn't even aspire to be one, but wanted to work for a lot of real time projects. My passion for practical works actually helped me a lot. I was average in finance and I remember feigning to have faint before the exam (grins). Second year was more fun as we had come back with practical learning after the internships and were ready to face our professors and their questions regarding internships and further projects and exams.
Careers360: You are proud alumni of this top B-School. What is the best part of this IMT from a student’s perspective?
Aditi: The experience you get here is very enriching. I have had stints at IIM Ahmedabad campus as well but the vivacious nature that this campus provided is unparalleled. The energy is infectious. One gets a well rounded personality. Ensure you take all this and more when you sit for your final interviews.
Careers360: Any suggestion/guidance for your future MBA aspirants.
Aditi: Remember that nothing is final in life and ensure you live each day as it’s your last. Take an unplanned trip to know yourself better and to decide better about your future. After post-graduation, you will hardly get free time as you would be busy moving ahead with your career. Don't be scared of hard work as either now or later in life because you would have to do it. Life has a balance. Somewhere I feel the initial rigor that I underwent during my marketing internship shaped me better as an individual.

Questions related to IMT Ghaziabad
Is PGDM from IMT gaziabad (Via distance mode) certificate eligible for appearing in UGC NET?
As you had done a distance certificate course of PGDM from IMT so you are not eligible for net exam on its basis.
Onlyits full time 2 years PGDM has MBA equivalence. To clear NET you need to have MBA or any masters degree or equivalent (in case of management education, AIU decides equivalence). IMT CDL is just a diploma and useful for gaining knowledge only. It does not have any academic or corporate value. IMT's full time PGDM has lot of corporate and academic value in contrary.
So it will be better if you do a degree course in masters like full time or part time mba from either IMT or any recognized university.
Hope this will help you out.
Good luck .

should i join IMT ghaziabad with a job in hand.
IMT GHaziabad is a good institute for management however, if you have job in hand and that job is a role which is in a core sector of your graduation, then I suggest you should go and do job at least for a year. An MBA without work-ex is not a good decision as the second year of MBA is all about those students who have some work ex before.
But if the job you have is not a good job but a BPO/Call center/non-core job then you can consider joining IMT.
Hope this helps. Thank you.
I have got 96.807percentile in my XAT2020 and I hadattended IMT Ghaziabad interview on 10/2/20 my academics are 10th-60%12th-57.6and i have done my UG in commerce with 55.6%. I haveworkex about 10-11 months and I am currently working, my GE at interview went good but my PI was avg Wt r my chances?
You really have good percentile in entrance exams which is a positive point but the boards marks are not so impressive. Many candidates will be applying IMT Ghaziabad and they will definitely select the ones who have good academic records as well as experienced. It seems that you have average chance at IMT Ghaziabad. You further don't have the advantage of a optimal work experience. Do keep a track of the wait-list movements also. All the best!
