IIM Sambalpur Admission Criteria 2019 – Indian Institute of Management, Sambalpur (IIM Sambalpur) has released the admission criteria for its 5th batch of Post-Graduate Programme in Management (PGPM) for 2019-21 batch. In terms of CAT cutoff, the criteria are more or less the same as last year. However, the institute has made major changes when it comes to giving weightage in the final merit list. Like other IIMs, IIM Sambalpur follows the quite similar admission process. However, weightage given to each selection step is different. Candidates appeared in Common Admission Test (CAT) and applied for admission to IIM Sambalpur can check all the stages of the selection process here. The IIM Sambalpur Admission Criteria 2019 goes through multiple stages which basically includes shortlisting candidates for Personal Appearance (PA) process on the basis of CAT score and preparing final selection list based on the cumulative performance in CAT, WAT & PI and profile score. In the first stage, the CAT exam score/percentile will be used to shortlist candidates for Personal Appearance process. CAT cutoff is likely to be different for different IIMs. The table given below explains the category-wise minimum percentile to get shortlisted for this process.

Apart from IIM Sambalpur, 10 other IIMs including IIM Amritsar, IIM Bodhgaya, IIM Jammu, IIM Kashipur, IIM Ranchi, IIM Rohtak, IIM Raipur, IIM Sirmaur, IIM Trichy and IIM Udaipur has decided to adopt a common process of WAT & PI to be coordinated this year by IIM Ranchi. For Common Admission Process (CAP) 2019, the performance of candidates in WAT, GD and PI of 11 IIMs would only be used for preparing the merit list. The scores of older IIMs would not be considered for merit list. 

All the candidates meeting the requirements mentioned in the table above and applied for admission to IIM Sambalpur would be eligible for consideration for shortlisting for PA process. The shortlisting is done by IIM Ranchi for the common pool of 11 IIMs. The Admission Committee of IIM Sambalpur will decide the actual number of candidates short-listed and would depend on the size of the batch 2019-21.

Stage 2: IIM Sambalpur Admission Criteria 2019 – Criteria for preparing the Merit List

Shortlisted candidates would appear for PA rounds – WAT & PI. The criteria for preparing merit list is given below:

1. CAT score gets 35 percent weightage in the merit list. Last year, the weightage to CAT score was 55 percent. 

2. Personal Appearance process has two components – WA and PI. The weightage given to each section is given in the table below:

Candidates who do not obtain the minimum score in the PA process would not be considered for the merit list. The minimum scores would be decided by IIM Sambalpur. 

3. Profile gets maximum weightage on the merit list. The Profile of a candidate is the breakup of three components – Academic Profile, Work Experience and Diversity. The weightage given to each part is given in the table below:

IIM Sambalpur follows Government of India’s reservation policy. Below given table explains the weightage for different categories.

Offer Acceptance and Withdrawal

A candidate receiving admission offer from IIM Sambalpur and accepting the offer within the stipulated date needs to send Offer Acceptance Form along with Offer Acceptance Fee of Rs. 50,000. If a candidate subsequently wishes to withdraw the offer within the withdrawal date specified in the offer letter, Offer Acceptance Amount will be refunded after deducting Rs. 1000 as processing charges. No refund will be admissible if a candidate applies for withdrawal after the date specified in the offer letter. If a candidate registers for the programme, his/her Offer Acceptance Amount will be adjusted against Term I Fee. In the event of withdrawal from the Programme after registration, no refund of Offer Acceptance Amount or Term Fee will be made.

IIM Sambalpur reserves the right to make changes in the shortlisting and selection criteria if considered necessary at any point.
