IIM Nagpur, one of the new IIMs to join the bandwagon is all set to start its first academic year under the mentorship of IIM Ahmedabad. The website of the IIM has been launched declaring the eligibility and admission criteria for the first batch, 2015-17.
As per IIM Nagpur, the candidates who had registered for the institute during the application of CAT 2014 were sent email communication from May 18 to 22, 2015 regarding the shortlist. The candidates had to send their reconfirmation for admission in IIM Nagpur by May 31 in order to receive further communication from IIM Nagpur.
The total number of seats offered by IIM Nagpur is 60. The category wise break up is given in the table below:
As per IIM Nagpur, the tuition fee for the 2 year programme would be Rs. 10 lakh. The total fee amount would be given in the final admission offer letter.
IIM Nagpur Shortlist Criteria
The candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of the CAT 2014 percentile. The IIM Nagpur CAT 2014 Cutoff is given in the table below.

Criteria for Final Selection of the shortlisted candidates
The candidates who have been shortlisted on the basis of the CAT 2014 cutoff are further asked to reconfirm their desire to join IIM Nagpur in the link of a page provided by the institute within a stipulated date.
Past Academic Performance (PAP)
The candidate’s past performance is considered for the final selection.
For 10th and 12th Standards: The eligible applicants will be assigned rating scores ‘A’ and ‘B’ based on their percentage of marks obtained in 10th and 12th standard examinations respectively.
For Bachelor’s Degree: The eligible applicants as obtained in stage 1 above, will be assigned a rating score ‘C’ based on the percentage of marks received in the Bachelor’s degree.

Percent score in 12th Std. Exam
> 55 and <= 60

PAP Score for the candidate
PAP = (0.25*A+0.35*B+0.40*C)/10
The candidates will be assigned a score on Work Experience (WE) score using the following formula:
WE = 0 for x <= 6
WE = 0 for x > 72
WE = x/36 for 6 < x <= 36
WE = 1 – ((x-36)/36) for 36 < x <= 72
Here x denotes the number of months of work experience.
Final Selection Criteria
Selection at this stage will be based on the ranks of the candidates computed separately for each category (General/SC/ST/NC-OBC/DAP) on the basis of their Final Scores (FS). The numbers selected in different categories will be in proportions mandated by the law.
The qualifying candidateswill be computed using the following rule:
0.50 * (CAT Total Score /Maximum1 CAT Total Score)
0.30 * (PAP Score)
0.20 * (WE Score)
Result Announcement Schedule
IIM Nagpur has announced the result for the selected candidates by email. The candidates have to confirm their admission and send acceptance letter and Demand Draft for commitment fee for IIM Ahmedabad within a stipulated date. As per IIM Nagpur, there will be 4 installments of offering the admission. The following table brings to you the schedule.

The institute will start functioning from July 2015, from the temporary campus, Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology, Nagpur. It is expected that the permanent campus will be ready within 3 years. The IIM Ahmedabad faculty members would deliver the lectures till IIM Nagpur recruits its own faculty members.
The temporary campus of VNIT Nagpur would be a residential one where the students will be provided single sitter accommodation. According to the institute, the hostel would be few 100 kilometers away from the first year classrooms.
IIM Nagpur is one of the six new IIMs proposed by the Union Budget 2014-15. The other new IIMs are proposed in the states of Himachal Pradesh, Bihar, Odisha, Punjab, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Jammu & Kashmir.

For getting in top B-schools of India like IIM-A, IIM-B, IIM-C, FMS Delhi etc. you need good marks not only in in CAT but also in Class 10th, 12th and your graduation. If you have some work experience then it gives you more advantages.
There is no specific cutoff of percentile on which you can get into top IIMs. Since your marks in 10th, 12th is above 90% and in graduation above 7 CGPA with work experience, you can expect a call from
IIM-A, IIM-B, IIM-C
if you have at least
99 percentile in CAT
also you should aim for
99+ percentile in CAT
and also keep in mind that if you score
95+ percentile in VARC Section
it will increase your chances of getting in.

Till now IIT Delhi has not released its cut-off for CAT for admission to MBA courses. According to last year's trend you should score more than 90 percentile if you belongs to general category and want to pursue MBA from IIT Delhi.
