IIM Amritsar Admission Criteria 2018: CAT score gets Maximum 40 percent Weightage; PI follows with 35 percent

IIM Amritsar Admission Criteria IIM Amritsar Admission Criteria 2018 – IIM, Amritsar has released the admission criteria for its PGP batch for the academic year 2018-20 with maximum weightage given to the CAT score followed by Personal Interview round. The admission criteria are for the candidates who have applied for the admission to IIM Amritsar. The sectional cutoff for the general category has been increased this year. There is also a slight increase in the overall percentile for the NC-OBC category. IIM Amritsar Admission Criteria 2018 goes through two stages for all the eligible candidates who meet the minimum selection criterion i.e. Common Admission Test (CAT) percentile. All the stages of the IIM Amritsar admission criteria 2018 is explained in this article. Let’s have a look at all the details.

 

Stage 1: IIM Amritsar Admission Criteria 2018 – Minimum Eligibility Criteria to shortlist candidates for WAT and PI

The following table shows overall and sectional minimum CAT cutoff percentile (category-wise) in order to be eligible for the selection process at IIM Amritsar.

All the candidates who have applied to IIM Amritsar and also meet the minimum eligibility criteria mentioned in the table above are eligible to be shortlisted for Writing Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI). The criteria mentioned above are intended to be minimum eligibility criteria and does not imply a call for the interview. Candidates obtaining a positive (greater than zero) raw score in all sections of CAT 2017 will only be considered. The actual candidates to be shortlisted at this stage will be based on CAT overall percentile score subject to the fulfilment of minimum eligibility criteria.

 

Note: The actual cut off of candidates who will receive a call for an interview may be higher than the minimum eligibility criteria mentioned above.

The candidates in the first shortlist will have to complete a mandatory registration process, during April 2018, for admission to PGP 2018-20 batch at IIM Amritsar.

 

Stage 2: IIM Amritsar Admission Criteria 2018: Final Merit List           

Candidates who meet the minimum eligibility criteria and complete the registration process will be considered for Stage 2 of the selection process. Following are the points to be noted for the second stage.

  1. Candidates who receive a call for interview by any one or more IIMs at IIM Bangalore, IIM Calcutta, IIM Indore, IIM Kozhikode, IIM Lucknow (only for their PGP/PGPM programmes), will not be required to appear for the personal interview of IIM Amritsar. Their WAT and PI scores from the above IIMs will be used as the PI/WAT score by IIM Amritsar.

  2. For all other candidates, the average of PI/WAT scores of appeared interviews (from IIMs Bangalore, Calcutta, Indore, Lucknow) will be used as the PI/WAT score by IIM Amritsar.

  3. Candidates who don’t receive a call for interview from any IIMs mentioned above and registered for IIM Amritsar will be required to appear for a PI and WAT to be conducted by IIM Amritsar during May 2018.

Academic/Gender Diversity

To ensure diversity in the batch, 5% marks will be awarded to the female or non-engineering candidates. However, a particular candidate is entitled to diversity score of 5% either from gender or academic diversity. A candidate with any bachelor’s degree other than Engineering/Technology (B.Tech./B.E. or equivalent degrees) will be eligible for academic diversity score.

IIM Amritsar Admission Criteria 2018-20: Offer Acceptance and Withdrawal

A candidate receiving the admission offer from IIM Amritsar and accepting the offer within the stipulated date needs to send along with the offer acceptance, an offer acceptance fee of Rs. 50,000/-. The candidate will have to register on the registration day for the programme which will be intimated to them and pay the necessary fees to complete the admission process. A candidate withdrawing from the programme can get the fee refunded after deducting the processing charges as per the Government norms (F. No. 21-166/2007-TS.II). If the withdrawal is happening after the closure of the admission window (to be intimated later) no refund of fee will be made.

IIM Amritsar Admission Criteria 2018-20: Reservation Policy

IIM Amritsar will follow Government of India reservation policy for admission to Central Educational Institutions (CEIs).

IIM Amritsar Admission Criteria 2018-20: Important Points

  • Subsequent to the PI and WAT/CT, IIM Kozhikode will prepare the merit list for admissions tentatively by the end of May 2018. The required number of admission offers will be released from this merit list. Hard copies of the admission offer will be issued only to those candidates who send the completed offer acceptance form together with the required payment.

  • A limited number of candidates will be kept in the waiting list. Offers to the candidates in the waiting list will depend upon the number of candidates not accepting the offers from the initial list.

  • If a candidate fails to confirm the admission formalities within the stipulated time period, for whatsoever reasons, the seat will be automatically forfeited and the next candidate in the waiting list will get the offer.

  • IIM Amritsar reserves the right to change, modify or adopt any new admission policy and process to comply with Government/Judicial requirements or that it deems necessary, and which best suits its purpose of identifying and admitting the most appropriate candidates to the Post Graduate Programme (PGP).

  • All communication pertaining to IIM Amritsar PGP admissions will be done only through the admissions office of IIM Kozhikode.

  • IIM Amritsar does not allow deferment of admission offers to subsequent years.

  • Any misrepresentation or suppression of information by a candidate will lead to immediate disqualification of their candidature from the admission process.
