Brush Up Basic Topics
Let us look at each point one by one to brush them up as most of the eliminations are done through the Group Discussion rounds for institutes offering college admissions or organizations offering job letters.
When in a group discussion, avoid sitting with a hunched back or a casual sitting posture as it shows lack of interest. To look confident make sure to sit straight with your backbone being vertical. GTO also assesses the body language of group participants indirectly during the group discussion round. In business communication, body language is considered as a non-verbal communication and includes eye contact, hand movements, proximity, facial expressions, posture and much more. Body language is also called Kinesics which can be learned by desirable candidates. Body language can be detrimental if not taken care of by candidates during the group discussion. Do not engage yourself with activities like playing with pen, or using mobile phone, tapping your foot etc., as it may distract other group discussion participants and may lead to negative markings.

MBA Admission 2020
Always prepare in advance and learn some common topics which are more frequently asked in group discussion. Check GD PI WAT Preparation Tips from Toppers and Experts who have faced these rounds. In case it happens that even after preparing well the topic given by GTO is not known to you and you have no idea then follow the next point i.e. listen attentively. Listen to what fellow group discussion participants have to say. After few of them speak, you will have enough points to add on and speak about. This is how you will gain momentum. Prepare some topics from management, business, general knowledge or anything related to which the Group Discussion is being conducted.

As mentioned, there can be a situation in which the topic given is unknown and may not allow you to be an initiator. Hence, in such situations listen carefully to the group members. This shows a positive aspect that you allow others to speak. Gain advantage of the situation and listen with an open mind. Try to take a cue from what other group discussion candidates have to offer and add to the topic and then make your move. If you feel you do not have much to speak and contribute to the group discussion topic, try to conclude the discussion in 4-5 lines.
Note - Summarize and put together the whole discussion by highlighting the key points and conclude the same. The summary should be short yet crisp and should include both pros and cons.
Avoid being dominant
Keep clarity in your speech
Do not talk irrelevant
Do not exaggerate the figures (if using any)
Let others speak
Keep eye contact with the group discussion participants and not the GTO (group testing officer)

Your academic profile is average but your cat percentile is good. It will definitely fetch you calls for IIMs and top IITs as well (those who provide mba for non-engineering students too).
It is difficult to get into IIMs at look at your overall profile for admission, but the new IIMs and baby IIMs will give you calls. Not only just IIMs/IITs, you have good chances to get calls from mdi gurgaon, fms delhi (as your percentile is just on edge being a non-engineer), sp jain mumbai, etc
I hope this helps.
You have a pretty average academic score and Some B-schools consider your academics but still Yes you can get into top b-schools, provided you have a percentile in the common admissions test(CAT) too a cat percentile of 98+ for mediocre IIMs and 99+ for the top ones. But you can absolutely forget IIMs- Ahmedabad , Bangalore,v Calcutta,Indore as they focus on acads and you have a very average profile as of now but still there are lots of other factors which govern whether you'll be gettin a call from the top IIMs or not like which company did you work for, if the company is one in which the selection rate is less or the selection criteria is hard, which college you did your undergraduate degree from, which course did you pursue, many other factors which play a role. But it depends also on what course you prusue in your graduation considering you are a student from the commerce/business stream.
Please focus on your undergraduation marks too and do a lot of Internships to improve your profile and hence increase the chances of getting a call.

CAT is an exam which tests your practicality and not how much you can learn by rote learning. You can start off by appearing for a mock test conducted free online and assess your performance that'll help you see and judge the areas you need improvement in and then decide if you need coaching or you can go on by yourself. You can either go for self study or Prepare with a tutor. For english prep. You can start off with Word Power Made easy, do this book twice, don't rush but read it and learn for 30-45 mins everyday. For Quants and LR-Di Arun sharma. Giving a mock a week and analyzing your strengths and weakness in terms of topics, score, percentile score and the time you are spending per question is really important.
Do take mocks religiously and you'll see how much it can affect your preparation in a positive manner.
