Goa Institute of Management (GIM) has completed the final placement for the academic year 2011-13. One of the key highlights of this season was that there was 40% increase in the number of PPOs offered to students over last year. The placement highlights are given in the table below:

Goa Institute of Management mentioned, “This year students were offered Pre-placement interviews (PPIs) & Pre-placement offers (PPOs) from prominent companies in the industry like Goldman Sachs, Tata Motors, Fidelity Business Services India Private Limited, Hewlett-Packard, JP Morgan Operations, Glenmark Pharmaceuticals, Pidilite Industries, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Wipro Technologies, eClerx and Tata Capital to name a few.”
Sector wise Placement
IT & ITeS sector was the highest recruiter followed by BFSI & Finance and Automobile & Manufacturing. FMCG & Retail, Market Research & Media and Pharmaceutical were among the other recruiting sectors. “This placement season witnessed a mix of recruiters from different sectors like Automobile, BFSI, FMCG, IT & ITES, Manufacturing, Market Research, Media, Pharmaceutical, Retail, and Travel & Hospitality,” said Goa Institute of Management.
Salary Break Up Across Streams
The highest salary was offered in Finance sector. Marketing and HR specializations’ highest salary were Rs. 13 lakh per annum each. Operations area received Rs. 11 lakh as the highest salary.

For admissions, student must be graduate with minimum of 50 per cent. And, it is must to take at least one of the entrance exam out of CAT, XAT or CMAT.
The cutoff for last stood at 81 per cent for XAT, 87 per cent for CAT and 97.5 per cent for CMAT.
For selection process, students academic record is being evaluated with result in qualifying exam. The sections are made basis overall profile including GD and PI evaluation.
work experience to be eligible?
A:It is not necessary to have work experience. However, it adds value to your profile if the experience is relevant. Additionally, freshers with good knowledge and confidence are equally welcomed here.
The leading private banks such as HDFC Bank are already associated with us, and other HDFC group companies such as HDFC Ltd, HDFC Life have also expressed strong interest and support. They have received inputs and support from ICICI Bank, Tata Goup companies such as Tata Capital, Tata AIA and Tata AIG also visit for placement. Highest salary offered in the BFSI space witnessed a drastic jump in the last placement season with a package of Rs 24.37 lakh per annum.
college facilitate internships?
A:Yes, they do offer internships to students. These are generally longer duration internships stretching to six months. Most of the companies are from finance industry such as HDFC Bank, HDFC Insurance, ICICI banks and Insurances, etc.
possible for a student to switch to another programme during the tenure?
A:Switching between programmes is not allowed. Stream once chosen at entry remains same for the next two years. Electives from that curriculum will be required to be chosen.
In what range is the CMAT cut of for Great lakes Chennai and Goa Institute of management?
The previous year CMAT cutoff for Goa Institute of Management, Goa was 99.8 percentile which means you need a score of 300+ and as far as Great Lakes Institute of Management, Chennai is concerned , you need a score of 280+. The cutoff percentile has always been 90+. But note that Great Lakes always considers other factors like past academic records, work experience (if any), interview equal importance ,so the selection will be done in an holistic manner.

i applied through cmat but i didnt fill the cmat application number and roll number in gim form. how do i edit it after submitting the form?
Do not worry,according to their help desk information and guidelines,You will be receiving an e-mail from the institute for updating the CMAT information in your application form. i have got 82.11 percentile in cat,with 2.5 yrs experience in TCS,with a 9.5 cgpa in 10th,90.5 percent in 12 th and 8.85 cgpa in Btech.Will i be shortlisted for Goa Institute of Management
Last year the last CAT percentile cutoff for getting a Call at Goa Institute of Management was 87 Percentile, with the XAT Cutoff at 81 Percentile. I believe with a 82.11 Percentile, having a strong academic record as well as a good work experience, you must keep you fingers crossed and hope for the best, as you may still have bleak chances in GIM Goa.
