Before moving forward to know how to calculate percentile and what score will fetch 100 percentile, let’s first understand the difference between CMAT 2020 score vs percentile.
Know your Admission Chances for Colleges Accepting CMAT score
CMAT 2020 score refers to the marks obtained by the candidate based on the marking scheme prescribed by the authorities. To calculate the CMAT score 2020 following criteria is followed:
For every correct answer candidate will be rewarded with 4 marks.
For every incorrect answer 1 mark will be deducted.
The result of CMAT 2020 is compiled on the basis of final answer key and the score further will be considered further for computation of result. While the CMAT score will be calculated, total number of seats, available institutions and reservation policy will not be taken into consideration.
Note- National ranking is given based on candidate’s total score. In a case where more than one student score same marks, then the ranking is based on the following order:
Quantitative Techniques & Data Interpretation > Logical Reasoning > Language Comprehension > General Awareness
Also, in case one or more candidates hold the same ranking as per the above mentioned criteria, in that case same ranking will be assigned and that name will be arranged alphabetically. The rank of the subsequent student will be extended by the number of additional students. For example if three candidates secure 23rd rank then the subsequent candidate will be ranked 26th.
CMAT percentile is a measure which indicates the percentage of students who are lower from a particular percentage scorer. The percentile is calculated using the formula:
100 X Number of candidates appeared in the examination with raw marks EQUAL TO OR LESS than the candidate/ Total number of the candidates appeared
Let’s understand the above formula with the help of an example:
We will take Quantitative Ability in consideration to calculate percentile.
Step 1 - Calculate the number of students who appeared for CMAT 2020
Step 2 - Mention the rank of the candidate which is calculated based on the scaled score of the student in QA section to all the candidates who have appeared for CMAT 2020.
Step 3 - Calculate the percentile now by putting the values in the above mentioned formula.
Note - Similar method will be used to compute the percentile of other sections and overall percentile.
