Careers360: Tell us something about yourself.
Answer: My name is Narayan Sharma and I am currently working as Accountant in Controller General of Accounts, Government of India. Prior to this, I have done B-tech in ECE from Lovely Professional University, Punjab.
Careers360: How did your family support you in achieving this feat?
Answer: Like all Indian parents, my family has always been supportive with my decisions regarding higher studies or job. Although I take calls on the major decisions about my career, they have always been there supporting me.
Careers360: What are your sectional and overall scores and percentiles?
Quantitative Aptitude: 96/99.90%
Logical Resoning: 80/87.39%
Language Comprehension: 90/99.92%
General Awareness: 56/99.58%
Careers360: Which are the books (section-wise) that you would recommened for preparation of CMAT
For GA, I would suggest Lucent and monthly compilation of current affairs from any banking examination sites.
For Quant, focus on basics with books like RS Agarwal and NCERT textbooks up to class 10.
For LR, just practice the previous year questions, no need of any specific book.
For Language Comprehension, generate a reading habit of newspaper & novels and follow Wren & Martins book for grammar. Supplement all these with mocks and previous year papers.
Careers360: Which other MBA entrance exams did you appear for and what are your scores and percentiles in the respective exams?
Answer: Apart from CMAT, I appeared in CAT 2019 exam and have managed to score 99.12%.
Careers360: Why did you decide to take CMAT? Which are the B-schools you are targeting through the exam?
Answer: My main reason behind taking CMAT was to get into Mumbai based B-schools namely JBIMS and SYDENHAM.
Careers360: When did you start preparing for CMAT and what was your strategy?
Answer: As I was preparing for CAT and have appeared for other examinations like SSC-CGL in the past, I didn’t opt for any specific strategy for CMAT exam. I just continued my momentum after appearing for CAT in November 2019 and prepared for the GA section along with it.
Careers360: Did you opt for coaching? Do you think coaching is important to crack a competitive exam like CMAT?
Answer: No, I did not opt for any coaching for CMAT 2020. Exams like CMAT check our basic aptitude, which I don’t think any coaching institute can help us in developing. According to me, working on the basics with regular practice of the questions is the mantra.
Careers360: What was your strongest and weakest sections in CMAT?
Answer: My strongest section was Quantitative Aptitude and weakest was General Awareness, especially the static part.
Careers360: How many mock tests did you take for CMAT?
Answer: I took 2 mock tests for CMAT 2020.
Careers360: What was your exam day strategy and experience?
Answer: My exam day strategy was to keep my head cool. As there is no shortage of time in the CMAT exam, the only thing that matters is accuracy. You need a cool head for that and the goal should be to avoid silly errors in the examinations. Try to cross check questions you have answered at least once before submitting the paper.
Careers360: Did you challenge any of the CMAT answer keys?
Answer: No, I didn’t.
Careers360: How are you preparing for the next rounds, such as GD, Essay Writing and PI?
Answer: I have registered for a mock Group Discussion/Personal Interview programme to prepare. Along with that, I am following newspapers religiously to gain viewpoint about the latest events around the world.
Careers360: Which B-schools have you been shortlisted by on the basis of other entrance examinations (if any) ?
Answer: Currently, I have calls from all the New and baby IIMs. Apart from that, I have also applied for IIT-D, IIT-B, IIT-K and DFS-DU through my CAT score, for which calls are not out yet.
Careers360: What are your hobbies? Which activities were you involved in during your MBA entrance exam preparation phase to unwind?
Answer: My hobbies include reading the newspaper, cycling, watching football and TV series. Cycling has been my go-to activity to relax during the preparation phase.
Careers360: What is your dream career which you would like to pursue after completing an MBA?
Answer: My dream career after MBA is to work with major financial firms like JP Morgan Chase, Deutsche Bank, Credit Suisse etc. in profiles like Valuation and Equity research.
Careers360: What is your message for the next year's CMAT aspirants?
Answer: Start working on the basic aptitude along with General Awareness and you are good to go for the exam.

There is no specific date given but on their website it sayds between 1st week of feb to 1st week of march their process will Be held for all it's venues. So expect a call anytime soon. You would be informed through a mail by the institute.
