Selection Procedure of CAT 2019 at IIMs
The selection procedure of IIMs will be different as per the institute regulations. Candidates will be able to check the admission criteria which will be released by each of the IITs as soon as CAT 2019 is announced. The notification of CAT 2019 was released on July 26, 2019.
All the candidates will be shortlisted for admissions on the basis of their performance in CAT 2019 i.e., as per their secured score/percentile. Here, the cutoffs will be important since every institute will be releasing their own cutoff for shortlisting which will be different as per the institute. All of those candidates who meet the cutoff will be able to move to the next stage of the selection procedure - Written Ability Tests (WAT), Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interviews (PI). While CAT 2019 performance will be an important factor for selection, IIMs may also additionally use other factors such as previous academic performance, relevant work experience, gender and academic diversity.
CAT 2019 selection procedure varies as per the IIMs:
Old IIMs such as IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Calcutta, IIM Bangalore and more will separately conduct their selection procedure
Common Admission Process (CAP) will be conducted by the newly established IIMs for selection. Shortlisting of candidates will be done and they will have to appear for a common written ability test and personal interview rounds. The representatives from all IIMs will be assessing the candidates’ performance and after it concludes, separate institute-wise merit list will be declared based on individual admission and selection criteria.
Newly established IIMs such as IIM Sirmaur, IIM Jammu and IIM Nagpur will be releasing their own merit list according to CAT score or percentile and profile of the candidate. These institutes will not conduct GD/WAT-PI rounds for selection of candidates.
Selection Procedure of CAT 2019 at Other B-Schools
Since there is no common admission system, the B-schools who do not fall under the IIM category will be conducting their own selection procedure. The process of selection such as group discussion, written ability test and personal interview will be decided by the institutes. Institutes such as IMT Ghaziabad and MICA conduct group activity or group exercise instead of group discussion. However, some institutes do conduct group discussion or group activity as well as essay writing/writing ability test along with the personal interview.

Hello rajendra, for pursuing MBA, any one of the IIM's would be preferable, mostly the IIM ahmedabad would be excellent. So , now I tell you the top insititutes which offer MBA through CAT are-
Hope this helps.
CAT is a National level Common Entrance test to pursue MBA in IIM's and Business Schools. To write CAT exam one must have passed graduation from a recognised Board of University. Final year graduation students are also allowed to write the CAT exam. If you do MBA in an IIM or Top B school, the career and placement opportunities are excellent. As a fresher one can earn minimum 5-10 lakhs after MBA.
In addition to that CAT exam is of 3 hours duration comprising of Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension, Data interpretation and Logical Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude.
All the best.,
The Cut off to IIM's and Business Schools depend on the Highest mark and difficulty level of the exam. As there is no official Highest mark, we have to wait till the Results are released. 87 percentile in CAT is a good Score. You can get good Business Schools but difficult to get IIM's.
Most IIMs take WAT or the written ability test where one is given around 15- 30 minutes to write an essay on any given topic. Only two IIMs- Kozhikode and Shillong take GD. But all of them conduct Personal Interview or PI.
The weightage of CAT score, academic qualifications, work experience, GD/ WAT and PI differs from college to college. You can find the detailed list on the given link: https://www.imsindia.com/CAT/iims-shortlisting-criteria.html
Whether you get a CAT call depend upon a lot of factors.First of it depends on which IIM you are looking to get into.Your grades in 10nth 12th and BTech is very good. But your CAT score is a little low.But it doesn't matter.IIMs like Indore give more weightage to your 10nth and 12th marks. Some don't even consider your undergraduate marks. So it all depends.I think you have a good chance of getting a CAP call for sure. All the best
