CAT Mock Test 2019 - IIM Kozhikode has released CAT 2019 mock test for PwD candidates with low vision. Previoulsy the authorities had released the CAT mock test 209 on October 16 so that, the students get an idea about the different aspects of the exam. Candidates can check the steps that are given below as they practice the CAT mock test.
Step 1 - Click on the CAT 2019 Mock Test Link
First click on the CAT mock test 2019 link and the following details will be exhibited on the screen:
Code of the System
Name of the candidate
Photograph of the candidate
In the mock test of CAT 2019, candidates will have to directly click on the green tab where it is written “Sign In.” However, on the day of CAT 2019, candidates will have to enter the roll number, password and then click on the sign in tab.
Step 2 - Instructions Page
Once the candidates click on the sign-in tab, they will be directed to the instructions page of the mock test. On this page, each colour scheme will indicate which are the questions that have been answered by the candidates, which have not been answered by the candidates and how many have been left for review.
Step 3- Other Important Instructions for Mock Test
Candidates can now read the other important instructions that are given on this page. In the mock test of CAT 2019, there is sectional time limit due to which candidates will not be allowed to move to another section in between. They will be able to move to another section of the mock test only after having completed the first section. Candidates will have to move in the order in which the sections are given in CAT 2019 mock test. The sections will be in the following order:
Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (VARC)
Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning (DILR)
Quantitative Ability (QA)
Go through the instructions and select, “I agree” button and then click on the tab, “‘I am ready to begin’.
Step 4- Commencement of CAT Mock Test 2019
Once the candidates have clicked on “I am ready to begin” CAT 2019 mock test will begin. Candidates will have to answer the question or skip the question or mark it as review and then candidates will have to click on “save and next” button. They will have to answer the next question. In the CAT mock test 2019, candidates will have the option to go back and see the question by clicking on the numbers at the question palette.
Step 5 - Answering of Non-MCQs
In this part of the question paper, candidates will have to answer the Non-MCQs wherein they will have to read the passage and select the best sequence. Candidates will have to type the numbers in the right sequence. Once the candidates have answered all the questions in the CAT mock test 2019, they will have the option to review it. Once the stipulated time is completed, candidates will get an opportunity to move to the next section of CAT mock test.
The mock test of CAT 2019 is prepared on a similar pattern as the main exam. CAT mock test will have the data interpretation and logical reasoning and quantitative ability sections which the candidates will have to attempt in the same sequence as it is given.
In the CAT mock test 2019, candidates can review the answer to a particular question in that section only within the stipulated time. Once, the time for the next section begins, candidate will not get an opportunity to review the answers. After answering all the questions, candidates will have to click on the submit tab.
After the three hours, candidate will get to see on the screen the total number of questions which they have answered, questions that had to be reviewed and the questions which have not been answered.
On-Screen Calculator and Timer
In the CAT 2019 mock test, there will be an on-screen calculator and timer which will be placed on the top right hand corner of the computer screen. It will be just below the timer. The on screen calculator in the mock test will help in calculations that are needed for Trigonometry and Algebra. The timer in the mock test will show how much time is left for the student to complete a particular section after which, the other section will start.
Candidates can practice both Non-MCQs and MCQs in the mock test. This will give them an idea about the varied type of questions that are asked, and also the probable number of questions that are asked in each section. By practicing the mock test of CAT 2019, candidates will also get to know about how to navigate between sections. Within a section, they can go back to a question and review it as well.
While practicing the CAT mock test 2019, candidates do have the option to review the answers which they have marked in that particular section. Candidates cannot review the answers in the CAT 2019 mock test by navigating to different sections.
CAT Mock Test 2019 for PwD Candidates with low vision
Indian Institute of Management, Kozikhode has provided the link for CAT 2019 mock test for PwD candidates with low vision. Such candidates will be given 20 minutes extra for each section. The process will be same except that the candidates belonging to PwD category with low vision, they will have the option of submitting the answers of any section at any point of time after the completion of 60 minutes. This means that the candidates can complete all three sections within 240 minutes. For PwD candidates, the section will end after 80 minutes.

The Verbal Ability section and Reading Comprehension has 34 Questions, Data interpretation-Logical Reasoning section has 32 MCQ questions and Quantitative Ability has 34 MCQ questions totalling up to 100 questions. Each Question has 3 marks and a wrong answer takes away 1 mark.
Quantitative Aptitude covers almost 30% of the CAT question paper. QA can be categorised into Arithmetic, Algebra, Geometry and Advanced Mathematics. Practise chapter by chapter and develop mental calculations. Like practise more of basic summation, subtraction, fractions and tables. Numbers, Percentage, Profit and Loss, Simple and Compound Interest, Ratio, Proportionality, Time-Distance, Time-Work, Mixtures, Averages, Partnership, Permutation and Combinations, Probability, Set Theory, Progression and Series, Line, Angles, Triangles, Quadrilaterals, Polygon, Circles, Ares, Volume, Height and Distance, Coordinate Geometry, Basic Trigonometry are few important topics.
In Verbal Ability session, command on your English, Grammar, Vocabulary, Understanding of the given paragraph are of more importance. Reading English NewsPaper will also help you in your preparation.
Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning needs to be practised as much as possible. Comparison of data, Data Analysis, taking clues, interpreting missing data, coming to conclusions and making future projections will be covered under this Category. The questions here are interlinked and so if you get one formula correct, cracking the next few questions will be easy. So it's important to memorise and practise formulae. You should cover topics like Data tables, Data Charts, Bar Diagrams, Pie Charts, Graphs, Data Comparison and Analysis.
IIMs shortlist candidates for the interview stage based on their own criteria, which may be independent of each other. The process may include Written Ability Test, Group Discussion, and Personal Interviews. Performance in the CAT examination is an important component in the admission process. IIMs may additionally use other factors such as the previous academic performance of the candidates, relevant work experience, gender and academic diversity and other similar inputs in shortlisting and ranking of candidates at various stages of the admission process. The processes, academic cut-offs and the weights allocated to the evaluation parameters may vary across IIMs. Now based on your Category, to be shortlisted for an IIM, you should score atleast 85 and more percentile.
Now the IIMs part has been cleared, you need to decide one among MBA in India via CAT or go abroad for higher studies. You cannot be double minded on this. You know your strengths and capabilities and so this should be completely your call.
