As IIMs have already opened registrations for CAT 2016, the exam convenor has asked applicants to be very cautious while filling their form to avoid cancellation of their candidature for the national-level MBA exam.

The CAT 2016 Convenor Prof Rajendra K Bandi advised CAT aspirants to pay attention to details in the application form as any incorrect information may lead to cancellation of their CAT registrations. “Candidates should pay attention to the details. Any inaccuracies in data, detected at any stage, will lead to the cancellation of the CAT 2016 application & scores,” said Prof. Rajendra K. Bandi in an interview with Careers360.

With the CAT 2016 application process open till September 22, Careers360 brings you important elements of the CAT application form which you should understand properly before completing your application.

 CAT 2016 registration: Key elements

  • Academic Details: This is the most important aspect of the registration process, as your CAT eligibility depends on it. For instance, if a candidate has secured 80% marks at graduation level, but mistakenly entered 70%, his candidature may be cancelled during the last leg of the admission process. Prof. Bandi advises candidates to be extra-cautious while entering such details as this becomes part of shortlisting criteria for many top B-schools including IIMs. “Candidates must pay attention to the details, especially while entering the Aggregate Marks in the academics section,” he suggests. Also, since the minimum eligibility criteria is 50% in graduation, any less percentage may result in cancellation and candidates may not get the admit card.

The sections related to academics are namely, SSC/10th Std/Equivalent, HSC/12th/Equivalent/Diploma Course, Bachelor’s Degree, Master‘s Degree, and other Professional Degree.

  • Valid Email ID and contact details: Ensure you have a valid and unique email address and mobile number. All correspondence pertaining to CAT 2016 and subsequent information during the selection stages of the respective IIMs will be communicated to the registered email address. You cannot use email ID of your friend, coaching institutes, or others. The same has been mentioned under the CAT 2016 FAQs section:

Q. Can I use my coaching institute’s or a friend’s email address when registering for CAT?

A.   No. You must provide a valid and unique email address. All correspondence pertaining to CAT 2016 and subsequent information during the selection stages of the respective IIMs will be communicated to the registered email address.

  • Rectifying mistakes in CAT 2016 applications: You cannot edit certain personal details like Name, Date of Birth, email id, mobile number etc., at any stage in the application process (either before or after submitting the application). If you have made a mistake in these details, you must register again with a new email ID. Your CAT 2016 application will be considered for the latest registration and the Admit Card will be issued for the same. Candidates will not receive a refund or Admit Card for the earlier registration.

You can edit some personal details, such as Communication Address, gender, category, educational information, work experience, or exam city preferences etc., until you have not submitted the Application Form. To do so, click the Existing User Login option on the CAT website.

After you submit the application, there will be a limited time window during which can you modify very limited details like Percentage of Marks scored, Work Experience, Programmes Selected etc. You will not be able to modify any of the following: any details entered in the Personal Details section, any details entered in the Academics section except the percentage marks scored, Exam Centre City Preferences.

Candidates must preview the application before submission to ensure that all the details are correct.

  • Passport Size Photograph and Signature: Upload the scanned image of your passport photo within the dimensions of 30mm X 45mm. Also, upload the scanned image of your signature within the dimensions of 80mm X 35mm. The documents file format should be a .jpg or .jpeg and the file size should not be more than 80KB each. The image should be clear with a minimum resolution of 150px/inch. The photo should not be more than 6 months old and should have a white background. You will require the same photograph uploaded to be affixed on the admit card on the day of the test (4th December 2016).

  • NC-OBC/SC/ST Certificate: Download the Certificate from the CAT Website, enter the required information and attest signatures from the appropriate authorities, self-attest, and scan as PDF document to upload here.

Is it possible to get a call from IIM Ahmedabad with 93% in 10th, 95% in 12th, 85% in B.Tech from Tier 3 college without any internships and extra curricular activities and 99%tile in CAT?

Anshu Saini 20th Feb, 2020
Hi aspirant,
IIMs are known to raise their bars of the expected percentile in the examination. The general bracket of the accepted CAT percentile ranges from 95 to a 99.98 percentile so as to get you a PI, that is, a Personal Interview call from the IIM institutes. In regard to this they also consider 12 and 10 class marks and grade them. With your score you have fair chances of getting a call from IIM ahemdabad but you have to clear analytical written test (AWT) and personal interview for admission. Follow this link for more details-

Hope this helps.

Hello. I got 93.04 percentile in CAT 2020, can I get admission in IIT Kharagpur for MBA.

Anshu Saini 20th Feb, 2020
Hi aspirant,
For General candidates, minimum CAT percentile is 90, for NC-OBC 80, for SC 75, for ST 75 and for PwD 75. So you are eligible to apply for this college, although you get a seat or not depends upon number of students that have applied, though you have fair chances of securing a seat.

I have get 37percentaile in cat 2019 what college are best

Vaishali Singh 20th Feb, 2020

Hi,

Your scores are very low and it would be difficult to get good b-schools, I think you should give another try next year. But if you are ready to take up tier 3 colleges, t here are many colleges which give a call at this percentile too. Based on your overall profile decent colleges give you a call.

But it also depends on what kind of college you are willing to take, like what investment you are willing to do, what kind of place you are preferring, and specifically the ROI i.e. the placement scenario of that college.

Some colleges that i suggest are ISB&M PUNE, IMI KOLKATA, IMT, LEXICON MILES, DSPSR Delhi, etc.

All the best.
