CAT 2014 Selection Procedure: The CAT 2014 Selection Procedure starts shortly after the CAT scores are declared. According to the CAT 2014 notification made on Sunday, July 27, 2014, the 13 IIMs and all participating B-Schools short list candidates for admissions on the basis of CAT cut off scores. Candidates aspiring for a place in premier business schools and IIMs after achieving a valid score in CAT have to follow the next step of Group Discussion (GD), Personal Interview (PI) and Written Ability Test (WAT) as a part of CAT 2014 Selection Procedure.
New : Candidates who wish to appear for CAT 2016 which will be conducted on November 29, 2016 (tentatively) can fill CAT 2016 Application form from first week of August.
Earlier the admissions were based on CAT score, individual written test, group discussion and personal interviews, but now the selection procedure varies from IIM to IIM. Apart from other IIM and B-Schools, since last 3 years the six new IIMs- IIM Kashipur, Raipur, Ranchi, Rohtak, Trichy and Udaipur are conducting Common Admission Process (CAP) for the final admission through WAT and PI. The final admissions are made on the basis of completion of institute specific admission criteria. As the selection procedure for each IIM varies it is important for candidates to keep an update on the procedures of the IIM or B-School they are applying in. The CAT Selection Procedure last year was followed to select candidates for 3,335 seats across IIMs and B-Schools, though it is being estimated that the number of seats this year is likely to increase. The number of CAT 2013 takers was 1.74 lakh.

There is no counseling system followed for CAT 2014 Admission Procedure. The institutes and there selection procedure can be broadly divided into 4 categories, IIMs, new IIMs, national institutes and private B-schools. It is important to understand which institute follows what kind of admission procedure.
CAT 2014 Selection Procedure of IIMs
The IIMs or the Indian Institute of Management, which conducts the CAT exam, selects the students on the basis of 2 steps- shortlisting and final admission. Each IIM has a different shortlisting criterion which is based on the CAT 2014 score, past academic records and work experience. Some IIMs also consider the Gender Diversity and Diversity in Education background as factors of criteria.
After the shortlisting, candidates will have to undergo Written Ability Test (WAT) or Essay Writing and Personal Interview (PI). Although the Group Discussion has been replaced by WAT-PI in almost 11 IIMs, only IIM Lucknow and IIM Kozhikode retain GD as a part of their selection criteria.
CAT 2014 Selection Procedure of new IIMs
The selection procedure of CAT 2014 for six new IIMs-Ranchi, Udaipur, Rohtak, Trichy, Kashipur and Raipur is known as Common Admission Process (CAP), which consists of WAT and PI rounds. The representatives like Directors, Admission chairpersons and other faculty members of all the six IIMs are present at the various CAP venues, and select the students on the basis of their CAT and CAP scores. After this a final list of selected candidates is declared.
CAT 2014 Selection Procedure of National Institutes
The National Institutes namely IITs, NITs, FMS, University of Delhietc accepts CAT scores and follow the same CAT 2014 Selection Procedure. First the candidates are short listed on the basis of CAT scores, educational background and work experience. After the shortlisting, candidates are finalized as per their performance in GD, WAT and PI scores.
CAT 2014 Selection Procedure for B-Schools
Certain B-Schools like IMI Delhi conducts Psychometric Tests to check emotional and Intelligent Quotient of the candidates. Mudra Institute of Communication Ahmedabad (MICA) and Institute of Rural Management Anand (IRMA) also conduct their entrance exams- MICAT and Issues of Social Concern respectively for shortlistingthe candidates after evaluating the CAT scores.
CAT 2014 exam will be held over a 2 day window and 4 slots on Sunday, November 16, 2014 and Saturday, November 22, 2014 across 354 test centers located in 99 cities in India. The exam pattern includes 2 sections, Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation and Verbal Ability & Logical Reasoning. The number of questions has been increased from 60 to 100, 50 questions in each section instead of 30. The total duration is 170 minutes. The sections would not be time bound and they can be switched in between.

Firstly i would like to appreciate you for your efforts for scoring so much high in one of the most difficult exams of the country .
I can understand that this year despite of scoring such a high score you get such a rank but this shows that how much the competetion is rising and also the cutoff is going to rise so much high .
Yes you can apply like this because both of the counsellings are conducted separately but you will get more benefit via the state quota.
Chances for Delhi are unfortunately very less but in UP due to inc in seats due to AIIMS and JIPMER you are going to a very nice institution.

firstly i would like to congratulations you for scoring good marks in your study. And also congratulations for clearing CAT exam.
If you have secured the minimum cutoff of BHU’s FMS will be called for the admission process of the colleges which includes the GD/PI rounds.
The final selection of the candidates is made upon the performance of the candidates in CAT 2020 and the admission rounds. Here the academic record of the candidates is also considered.
Hence there is a chance of getting into FMS BHU .
