CAT 2014 Analysis by VistaMind
CAT 2014 Analysis by VistaMind - Careers360 brings the CAT 2014 Analysis by VistaMind. The coaching centre has analysed the both the slot papers of CAT2014 day 1. The CAT 2014 Analysis has been done in terms of paper pattern, common topics covered, and difficulty level of questions (easy/ moderate/difficult) of CAT 2014.
Following is the detailed analysis of CAT 2014 by VistaMind:
Across forums and social media, people have called CAT 2014 an easy exam and are claiming extremely high attempts. Students have a tendency to overestimate the number of attempts as well as to assume that almost all their attempts would go right.

Centre and Reporting:
Students have reported that some CAT centres were extremely far from the city and not easily accessible.
Advise for students writing on 22nd Nov:
Please ensure that you plan well to reach the centre by the reporting time. Carry Admit card and a valid photo ID. Check whether the name on the admit card matches the ID. You need to paste a passport photo on the admit card.
As we had predicted, this paper was a throwback to older CAT papers (pre-Prometric) and had the stamp of the IIMs on it.
Students reported that the Quant section was very well balanced and covered all areas from Arithmetic, Algebra, and Geometry to higher Math. This was again according our prediction where we said that the IIMs will provide a fair test for all students – Engineers and non Engineers. Again, there were Questions that tested concepts and questions that tested your ability to think on your feet. Again as predicted by us, DI was a balanced sub section with Question sets covering multiple types and testing both Calculation/Estimation as well logical thinking.
In Section I, attempting more than 25 questions would be considered good. Anyone attempting 30+ questions with an accuracy of 80% can consider himself/herself as a serious candidate for the top IIMs.
Again, the overall distribution of the paper was in keeping with VistaMind Mocks and well balanced between VA, RC and LA, though students reported that some sets of LA were tricky and time consuming. Those students who balanced their time and attempts between all areas did very well.
Most of the Question types were familiar to VM students who have attended our classes and taken our online tests and Mocks, though as in every year CAT 2014 has thrown in a few surprises. In Section II, attempting more than 30 questions would be considered good. Anyone attempting 35+ questions with an accuracy of 75% can consider himself/herself as a serious candidate for the top IIMs.
CAT 2014 is a well-designed and balanced paper that should be fair to students of all backgrounds. We believe it has the stamp of the IIMs on it and it reminds us of the older CATs and we are glad for that.
Please do not go by what you read and hear on social media and forums. Even some so-called ‘Experts’ have made irresponsible statements without having a basic understanding of how CAT is designed. We would like to avoid boasting but the team of experts at VistaMind has a 10 year track record of making highly accurate predictions (+/- 2 marks) and have guided students accordingly. Ideally, students should have the opportunity to get their results and then apply to Schools where they have a chance of applying. But since some B-Schools have given last dates before CAT results, you need an accurate prediction of your scores

Questions related to CAT
95% in class 10 ,80.33 percentage in class 12 , 9.8 cgpa in graduation and 99.5+ percentile in CAT...is it enough to get a call from top IIM ?
Many Many Congratulations for such an outstanding scores in your exams and you have really performed very well in the Exams.
As you have asked for the top IIMs, with this much marks...First of all, I want to clear you that only CAT and graduation marks matters for them and rest all others are only for upgrading your CV profile during the call.
You have scored 99.5+ percentile in CAT, which is just excellent and surely you are going to get the calls from top IIMs for sure like IIM AHMEDABAD, IIM LUCKNOW, IIM BANGALORE, IIM CALCUTTA and many others.
You have performed very well and in return of it, you are getting an excellent college out of it.
I am providing you the link also where you can check all IIMs cut-offs for the final call to some student :
Hope that my answer helped you!!
Good Luck and Best wishes for your Future!!

Hope this helps
I have 95 percentage in class 10 , 82.4 in class 12, 9.8 CGPA in BTech Marine Engineering, if I get above 98 percentile in CAT can I get into top IIM ?
Congratulations on your great academic records. But sadly that will only give you an added advantage but will not guarantee you a seat in top IIM. Also you have mentioned top IIMs, but you have not mentioned whether you wish to persue MBA from the old ones like Ahmedabad,Bangalore,Calcutta or the comperatively newer Lucknow,Kozhikode,Indore.
Sadly if you are general and you being an engineer, you need atleast a 99.2+ %ile to get into any of them along with performing exceptionally well in WAT-PI.
The diversity factors will help you in improving your overall score and also help you in your interviews (I believe), but you need a very high percentile to get admission in the IIMs.
Hope this helps!
which subject I should start preparing first in cat
Your complete CAT paper is divided into three major sections :-
*Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning (DILR)
*Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (VARC)
But, it's not like first you prepare for one section and then for other and then for the last one rather you should start preparing for all the three section at the same time and for that you will need to make a routine and devote time for all the three sections and give more time to the section which is your weak for example if your attitude is weak then give more time to it
After completing cat syllabus, go through
Solve previous year question papers of CAT :-it will let you know the examination pattern, type and difficulty level of questions, also concepts behind the question often gets repeated, so you should definitely solve year papers
*CAT mock test papers , it will let you know your preparation level and and weak areas so that you can work on them and perform well in your examination

last tym 67%result but this tym 55%na then I didnt have chance to get mbbs seat and i got 395 (sc) telangana state. cat a also no chance ha ???
It's quite difficult to predict that whether you will get seat or not as cut off marks/rank for medical colleges keeps changing every year depending upon various factors like number of students that appeared in the exam, kind of marks obtained by them , toughness level of the examination etc.
But when we go through previous data then it suggests that with 395 marks you hold a low chance to get a seat in A category seats i. e government quota seats in private medical college
In Neet 2019, the lowest marks that got a seat in government quota seat in a private medical college state quota was 407 marks for sc category and it was for MAHAVIR INST OF MED SCI, VIKARABAD
With your marks you have chances for management seats in private medical college and deemed universities
