Following is the detailed analysis of CAT 2014 by PT Education:
CAT 2014, computer based test for admission to the IIMs and 100+other Bschools, was successfully completed on the first day (16November) across the country. It is said that multiple sets of question papers have been prepared for CAT. However, in the same slot also, questions generally are common across candidates. The results of CAT 2014 will be declared in the 3rd week of December, 2014.

Given below is a detailed experience sharing from a test taker’s point of view:
- The CAT 2014 testing process has been simplified from the previous years.
- Students across test centres in India reported a technically smooth and glitch free testing experience
Overall a moderate paper.
VERBAL-4RCs (moderate, good topics that make you think) 4 questions each, Lots of Parajumbles (easy), Summary and Inference questions (easy), Odd Sentence Out (will get wrong if para not formed) (moderate) and Grammar (moderate). Once again they are checking your reading skills thoroughly. A good student can try to do more than 24.
LR-4sets moderate to tough. All based on data sets that had to be arranged except one which had 4 switches on/off etc. type. If you get two sets fully correct, that would be great! That's 8/16.
DI-Excellent (tough) bar graph set, 1 set on Venn Diagram, 1 set on students/subjects/boysgirls (simple calculations based), etc. Overall not too tough. Should do 2 sets easily. That's 8/16.
QUANTS-At least 10 questions were sitters need to identify them first (that's the key). Lots of questions (surprisingly) from arithmetic, time speed distance. Also geometry and equations figured as much as the logical ones (operations). Many could be cracked using options fitting, and some could be done using basic formulae (surprising!). A good student can do more than 23 easily (out of 34).
USEFUL TIP-Use the feature "View Entire Question Paper" right at the beginning to scroll down and see the easy ones. You can easily lose yourself in the test otherwise and actually miss out some simple ones (that would be bad!).
OVERALL moderate, not easy.

Set of 4 questions
Quants questions were very manageable although DI was tough. In this section, there were at least 25 questions that could be cracked using options or common sense. The trick lies in identifying them properly. There were no questions on Data Sufficiency this time.
An excellent attempt would have been at least 32 to 35 questions done correctly.
Verbal Ability and Logical Reasoning
(Total Questions 50)
Reading Comprehension (some sample topics)
Number of Qs
Length of RC passages
Scotland vs Kurdistan
Colonialism & Indian intellectual tradition
Technology and autoâcatalysis growth
The Verbal / EU questions did not contain any fill in the blanks, vocabulary based or analogy questions, this time. Para jumbles (some quite easy, from options), Critical Reasoning, Odd Sentence Out (required coherent para formation) and grammatical error identification were the major types.
Four sets of Data Arrangment and Reasoning containing 4 questions each Logical reasoning sets were moderate to tough. The strategy should be to identify at least two sets that you will go after and crack! That focusses your energy and actually helps score. So, at least two of the four LR sets should have been done correctly.
Overall, an excellent attempt would have been at least 35 to 38 questions done correctly.

Questions related to CAT
95% in class 10 ,80.33 percentage in class 12 , 9.8 cgpa in graduation and 99.5+ percentile in CAT...is it enough to get a call from top IIM ?
Many Many Congratulations for such an outstanding scores in your exams and you have really performed very well in the Exams.
As you have asked for the top IIMs, with this much marks...First of all, I want to clear you that only CAT and graduation marks matters for them and rest all others are only for upgrading your CV profile during the call.
You have scored 99.5+ percentile in CAT, which is just excellent and surely you are going to get the calls from top IIMs for sure like IIM AHMEDABAD, IIM LUCKNOW, IIM BANGALORE, IIM CALCUTTA and many others.
You have performed very well and in return of it, you are getting an excellent college out of it.
I am providing you the link also where you can check all IIMs cut-offs for the final call to some student :
Hope that my answer helped you!!
Good Luck and Best wishes for your Future!!

Hope this helps
I have 95 percentage in class 10 , 82.4 in class 12, 9.8 CGPA in BTech Marine Engineering, if I get above 98 percentile in CAT can I get into top IIM ?
Congratulations on your great academic records. But sadly that will only give you an added advantage but will not guarantee you a seat in top IIM. Also you have mentioned top IIMs, but you have not mentioned whether you wish to persue MBA from the old ones like Ahmedabad,Bangalore,Calcutta or the comperatively newer Lucknow,Kozhikode,Indore.
Sadly if you are general and you being an engineer, you need atleast a 99.2+ %ile to get into any of them along with performing exceptionally well in WAT-PI.
The diversity factors will help you in improving your overall score and also help you in your interviews (I believe), but you need a very high percentile to get admission in the IIMs.
Hope this helps!
which subject I should start preparing first in cat
Your complete CAT paper is divided into three major sections :-
*Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning (DILR)
*Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (VARC)
But, it's not like first you prepare for one section and then for other and then for the last one rather you should start preparing for all the three section at the same time and for that you will need to make a routine and devote time for all the three sections and give more time to the section which is your weak for example if your attitude is weak then give more time to it
After completing cat syllabus, go through
Solve previous year question papers of CAT :-it will let you know the examination pattern, type and difficulty level of questions, also concepts behind the question often gets repeated, so you should definitely solve year papers
*CAT mock test papers , it will let you know your preparation level and and weak areas so that you can work on them and perform well in your examination

last tym 67%result but this tym 55%na then I didnt have chance to get mbbs seat and i got 395 (sc) telangana state. cat a also no chance ha ???
It's quite difficult to predict that whether you will get seat or not as cut off marks/rank for medical colleges keeps changing every year depending upon various factors like number of students that appeared in the exam, kind of marks obtained by them , toughness level of the examination etc.
But when we go through previous data then it suggests that with 395 marks you hold a low chance to get a seat in A category seats i. e government quota seats in private medical college
In Neet 2019, the lowest marks that got a seat in government quota seat in a private medical college state quota was 407 marks for sc category and it was for MAHAVIR INST OF MED SCI, VIKARABAD
With your marks you have chances for management seats in private medical college and deemed universities
