Disgruntled over their CAT 2013 results, CAT takers had approached the Indore HC seeking its direction over release of CAT 2013 raw scores and transparency over normalization process of CAT scores. CAT takers had also filed RTI applications to MHRD seeking information on their raw score and rationale behind normalization process for CAT scores evaluation.

Admitting the petition filed by a group of CAT 2013 takers, the division bench of justice A. M. Khanwilkar and Justice J. K. Maheshwari sought response from IIMs and other respondents within seven days of receipt of the court notice.

According to Senior Advocate Piyush Mathur who argued in the court on behalf of the petitioners, the court agreed to send notice to all 13 Indian Institute of Management, Ministry of HRD and CAT testing agency Prometric.

The HC ordered issuing of notice after the petitioners argued that since all the IIMs have already announced their shortlist and they are conducting the second stage of selection process also, it may be late to wait for their reply on RTI any longer.

Though the HC did not wish to stay the ongoing admission process at IIMs, it said that the final admissions to IIMs’ will be subject to the outcome of the next hearing on March 7.  Advocate Mathur said that if the court is not convinced with the reply from IIMs, it may order to halt the admission process of IIMs for the academic year 2014-15 and order re-evaluation of CAT 2013.

Many IIMs’ have already begun their second stage of selection process that includes combination of different components like GD, PI and WAT.

Earlier, Delhi High court had also agreed with CAT takers argument that raw scores should be provided, but it advised candidates to first wait for other remedial like RTI reply from IIM Indore.

Meanwhile, MHRD has also asked IIM Indore to take appropriate action on RTI applications.

The CAT 2013 results were announced on January 14. The Common Admission Test (CAT) is conducted annually for admission to management programmes to all 13 Indian Institute of Management. The CAT scores are also accepted by many other top B-schools across India. IIM Indore had conducted CAT 2013 on behalf of all 13 IIMs’ with Prometric being their testing partner.

Careers360 had written an open letter to CAT 2013 Convenor Dr Rohit Kapoor of Indian Institute of Management Indore seeking his response on transparency in CAT examination and evaluation process. But IIM Indore is yet to respond to this.

Earlier, Careers360 had reported on 95000+ candidates scoring zero or less in CAT 2013 and the concerns on CAT evaluation process.

Many CAT 2013 applicants have raised question on the authenticity of their scorecards and they have demanded more transparency on overall CAT process starting from testing to declaration of results.  Thousands of students have signed an online petition after finding discrepancy in their CAT scorecard. Career360 analysis of actual score cards of the CAT takers  revealed that Verbal Ability section may have played foul with the dreams and aspirations of many students.

CAT 2013 –Key Highlights:

According to CAT 2013 Convenor Dr Rohit Kapoor, the CAT 2013 result show that a total of 8 candidates, all male, are in the 100 percentile bracket.  The next level of 99.99 percentile is occupied by 10 candidates out of whom one candidate is female.

whats think different in a CMAT and a cat

Shiksha 28th Mar, 2020

Hello!

Although both the exams are for getting into Bschools in India for post graduation but there is a huge difference between the two:

  • Cat is common admission test and cmat is common management admission test
  • Cat is one of the most popular exam in india for management given by around 2 lakhs of people and cmat is given by a lesser candidates around 50k-60k.
  • Most of the bschools & iim accept cat score and around only 400+ colleges in india iccepts cmat score.
  • Cat has a higher difficulty level and cmat is a bit on the easier side.
  • Both exams are online but the exam pattern is different. Apart from quantitative ability, verbal ability and logical reasoning that are there in both the exams, cmat also an additional section for gk & current affairs.
  • There are very few top colleges through cmat and many top colleges through cat that you can target.
  • I hope this helps.

what percentile in cat do I need if I have 84 percent in 10th and 92 percent in 12th to get into IIM Indore?

ADIL KHAN Student Expert 28th Mar, 2020

Hii Suraj,

IIM Indore is one such B-school which values your previous academic marks a lot. Your graduation marks matter too. And the stream from which you graduated. You have a good score in class 12th but an average one in class 10th. See it is just not your acads but your work-ex if any, your extracurriculars matter too.

You'll still need a percentile somewhat above 98+ if you are a student of Commerce background. Being from tech. background furthermore makes it difficult for one to get in.

You can visit the following link for more info- https://www.careers360.com/university/indian-institute-of-management-indore

You can reach out to us for more information regarding admissions entrance tests etc.

Hope it helps.

Thanks.

Manidipa Kundu Student Expert 27th Mar, 2020

hi,

see it is not mandatory to have work experience to join 2 year mba program in sp jain, however if you opt for executive mba then work experience is necessary.

sp jain offers mba courses on Marketing, Operations, Information Management & Finance.

sp jain selection criteria is two types 1> profile based, 2> profile cum score based.

as per previous years cutoff cat overall percentile was 85. with 75 percentile cutoff in sectional. sp jain observes candidates based on their academic score, extracurricular activities, achievements and relevant work experience.

how many % required in 12th for cat

Shaurya Kapoor 27th Mar, 2020

It basically depends upon from college to college and the criteria for short listing. But if you wish to make it to the top colleges of CAT it is advised to score very high percentage of marks in your class x and class xii.

Every year the percentage needed for shortlistment is changed by the college.

The overall shortlistment depends upon your performance in class x and xii , your grades in college , extra curricular activities and your work experience.

All the Best !!!?
