Careers360: How has been the campus life at your college? Tell us something about your daily routine as in how is the time divided between study and having fun activities. Also, tell us something about yourself as in from which place do you belong so on and so forth
Archita Kumari: My roots are from Dhanbad, Jharkhand where I completed my studies and then did the graduation from SRCC Delhi. At IIM Bangalore campus life is amazing, the beauty of the campus and weather of bangalore is enough for the relaxation part after classes from morning to evening. But classes are not the end of anything at IIM where life actually starts after classes where you not only have to deal with the pre-reads assigned by the professors but also actively participate in the clubs you are a member of then after all the tiring work till 2 to 3 AM you finally get a 5 to 6 hrs sleep for tomorrow.

Careers360: Tell us something about the selection process as in the personal interview, group discussion. What were the topics on which the questions were asked? Do you have some special tips for future aspirants?
Archita Kumari: The selection process is actually fair where many top graduates and many people with good experience come but the interviewers check the instant thought process where the process matters and not the end results. In my interview and WAT with IIM Bangalore, I was asked about an opinion based question on CSR and about my family business. The questions are generally tricky therefore if you are not true to yourself they will definitely understand. For every statement, they expect a logical answer and always be true. If you don't like some subject say don't like. Giving false answers is like digging your own grave.

Careers360: How did you get adjusted to the new environment at the institute? Did you face any problem, if yes what were they and how did you overcome them?
Archita Kumari: The problems that I faced was to adjust with the fast-paced life here at IIM Bangalore where you cannot complain that why don't you get enough time for yourself. Its always a tradeoff therefore with time you get used to handling many things all together where it does not remain as a problem anymore.

Careers360: Does your institute organize casual college or corporate trips? Share your experience about it?
Archita Kumari: Yes, the college has a club named Anveshan which organize trips from time to time but I have never been to any of the trips but yes eagerly looking forward to being part of the trips in my second year. It was also because the first year of MBA is always hectic then it depends on you how eager and financially sounds you are to afford the trips.

Careers360: Apart from the regular studies, what are the activities that take place at your institute? Do you have clubs and committees? If yes, are you part of them and which ones?
Archita Kumari: From the very start, you are forced to participate in some of the other activities then the club selection takes place where more than 20 clubs participate specializing in different domains. I was part of Spicmacay and Share-Growing change makers as a junior coordinator. Share- Growing is a consulting firm itself which train students of top institutes on consulting and given opportunities to practice in real life and spicmacay is a club for culture art and promotion.

Careers360: What is the faculty-student ratio at the institute? How is the infrastructure? What are the facilities that are provided at the campus that makes it distinct from other institutes?
Archita Kumari: The best thing about the campus is that it is very DA friendly where any DA students are always given preference so that they can be best in themselves. The infrastructure is amazing with a broad mindset where there is a coed hostel, unlike other colleges. Faculty and student ratio is well and good. The beauty of the campus is unlike any other campus. you can never feel alone when you are friends with nature.

Careers360: How is the hostel facility? What are some of the popular hangouts close to the campus?
Archita Kumari: Hostel facilities are amazing. You have maids for each floor to clean your rooms. Shared washroom but it is always clean and washing machine on each floor. There are single rooms and big enough rooms for a single person with all the accessibility in that. If you are sick you can get the food at your doorstep that comfortable it is. The most popular hangout place at the campus is the Amul's mustard cafe, L Square, central pergola, etc. But people also prefer hanging out while taking a walk on the beautiful campus.

Careers360: What do you do during your leisure time?
Archita Kumari: In my leisure time, I try to connect with people from my past who has been left behind because of my tight schedule then I try to get enough sleep to function all day. But it is all a matter of choice if you want leisure time or not.

Careers360: In which particular field are you specializing?
Archita Kumari: There is no specialization as such at IIM Bangalore. It is a package of general management. But personally I am more inclined towards marketing and sales and I always try to get as many subjects as possible of marketing and sales as I want to pursue my career in this field.

Careers360: What are the types of companies which come for recruitment and how has the recruitment been in the past few years in terms of placement.
Archita Kumari: The placement is very good at IIM Bangalore where all big firms, as well as well established startups, come for recruitment. More than 150 companies come for recruitment where the majority are recruited in consulting firms on the first day itself. There is a guarantee of placement at IIM Bangalore where you get a decent package at a minimum so that you can easily pay off the loan.

Careers360: Were you given any training ahead of the placements or you prepared on your own?
Archita Kumari: The different clubs at our campus try to provide students with enough training in different domains so that they are prepared enough but at last everything depends on you how you want to use the opportunity. Major part always is your personal effort as no one can spoon feed anyone everything.

What ranking is good to get to IIM Bangalore and what exam should be written?

Ayshi Ghosh Student Expert 5th Nov, 2019
Hello Netra,
To get into IIM Bangalore, you need to appear for the CAT examination, which can only be given after graduation. There isn't any specific rank to get a call from the institution, but if you are a general category candidate, you need to score 99.8 or more and also have good previous academic scores. All the best!

Do the IIM interview panel recognize certificates from MOOC like edx ?

Shivam bhardwaj Student Expert 24th Oct, 2019

Hello Ninad,

During the interview, the members of panel wants to know about you, and how much passionately you are doing things in your life. They go through your academic profile as well. If you have some extra and interesting things to show it will definitely attract the panel. And they are bound to ask questions related to that course. If you are able to give answers, you will surely get benefitted. But stating a certificate doesn't means marks always. Your marks may get deduce also, so be careful.

Hope this will be helpful.

Good luck
